I´d like to make a commit about the FF franchise. Basically, my love of FF was ignited for the first time when I played FF7. I remember becoming fully engulfed in the world and characters and loving every aspect of the game. Then i played 8 and in my opinion it was even better (to this days its still my favorite). I didn´t have the oportunity to play 9 so when 10 came around I made sure I played it and it didn´t dissapoint me. However, in my opinion, Square has yet to release a quality game since FF10. I wont even discuss 10x2 and then they released 11 online so I couldn´t play it. and finally after what seemed like an eternity they released 12 and I bought it right away. However, after playing 10 hours over the course of I week I became bored and never finished. That game made me worry, because it seems that Square is moving away from all the aspects of the franchise that I love so much. The characters where not distinct and intrigueing, the fighting mechanics where horrible (for a old school turn based fan like myself), and the story just didnt grasp me. Basically, I was wondering what you guys think about Square more recent output and if you think they´ll be able to return to the quality of the greats like 7 that we all remember.
Oh man im exactly like you only with me 8 and 9 are the other way round. 7 sparked my love for it, I bought 8 but my brother took it back cos there was no MP you could only use magic so many times and it wasnt fantasy enough it was more reality ( i bought it off e-bay last week though, havent started it yet :) ), i love 9, its my favourite. If you love FF, 9 would not dissapoint you at all and its a fine edition to the series :)
I researched the game, and no matter what i did i could not find something that would make me want to play the game.
But i never let info stop me, so i watched a great deal of the game played (my friend had it)
However i was once again not impressed. It looks amazing and plays just as good, but for some reason i just didnt care.
Im pretty sure i know why. i think it was some time after 9 that a great amount of the people that drove the FF games left square. i compleatly forget the details but i remember reading about it and thinking...oh crap.
now it seems that every FF has the same art style. when back in the old days you couldn't see any similarities between 7 8 or 9.
but hey 13 looks really pretty. maybe it will be kewel. and 13 versus, just looks bad ass. we shall see.
When you have been playing FF the same way for god knows how mnay years then you play 12 and its just a whole new level!
See I havent played 12 because ive heard from some reviewers that it isnt so good, but im interested to what another fan thinks, so is 12 worth buying? (I am obsessed with final fantasy lol)
It's definitely worth buying! I thought it was a truly great game -- really refreshing for the genre. At less than $20, it's now worth it more than ever. You won't regret it. ;)
Hundreds of hours into the game, and I still haven't scratched the surface.
