this is an idea that was started by yuribeat (if i remember correctly)

so i furthered the original idea which was just something like why are there no bible games. and so i thought about this for sometime until i finally come up with a fairly smooth and flaw free idea. basically i hope to get enough help so that i can make a bible based game without the purpose of making money but rather to share God's word with others. so the game would begin with the players version of the main character, (ie, could be a 14-18 church kid, a 18-30 person, ect) basically i would like to aim this at as big of an audience as possible, with each age group having a slightly different story. so the player would either start reading the bible because a friend recommends it or he/she goes to church, either way after about 5mins of game play there is "in the beginning God created the heaven and the earth" verse. now for those of you that think that this would be boring, well think of the great battles that took place in the bible. including the parts where Samson kills an army of philistines with a donkey jaw bone. i believe that such a game could easily be fun and full of story, (not only the short bible stories but also the story of the actual pc which would be based in modern times) anyways i cannot do this myself so i would like to get help from you guys. btw i doubt that this game will score a rating that is less then M, since really the bible is a brutal book and making it into a game would defiantly make the violence so brutal that it would most likely get an M rating for just violence. not to mention that Adam and Eve had no clothes before the ate the fruit, another M aspect.

I would not mind a Bible game in which we play an angel sent to guide people on Earth and keep them safe from evil forces.

Two possibilities if EAsy decides to do that.

1: RTS game in which you do not guide but take control of the humans and have them fight the dark forces as a angel commander, later angel reinforcements come.

2: Combat game where you simply button mash and smash everything until you finally kick the devil's bottom.

i was thinking of an rpg based game, that would focus more on the non violent things (God's love for us, history, ect) that were in the bible, not just fighting. (since really Christianity is way more then just battles between good and evil)

First of all if you look carefully i have all kinds of pictures from Wh:40k universe, not just one character.

Second thing i don't worship anyone i simply liked the name and how he looks.

And third, you are the one who worships a guy who died 2k years ago, ergo your argument is invalid.

if it would be a game of all the books of the bible then that would be the ending, except it would end not as just reading the bible like most of the other parts of the game but by actually letting the main player play though that "age"

also the idea was not just to convert people but to give another perspective on life. think of how awesome assassin's creed is, this would be something of that style except it would be based on the Bible and God would be praised instead of God being discredited.

KING DAVID RTS, RPG NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!

Technically I have a Bible inspired game in the works right now. It's called Gloria Ecclesia Templar and although it's set in another universe and although it's not based on a Biblical story it will have biblical themes all about suffering, sin, repentance and faith.

The "game" will be a module for Neverwinter Nights which was created by Bioware. It will contain some violence (actually, the player can progress through the whole game killing all in their way) but it will mostly be heavily story-driven and focused on dialogue and making important choices which may kill off people in your party.

Basically you start the journey with several knights - including the PC's son - and all have Hebrew/biblical names. You have Job the priest, Gabriel, Michael, Abiela, Joanna and Samuel. I'm debating against myself whether to make the main character a preset character with the name Eleazar or whether to allow the player to create their own character who can be male or female. Regardless the PC will have a son and I'm thinking of including part of the plot as being where the PC is faced with the difficult choice of sacrificing their son to save others or letting him live while others die.

I already have it planned that certain choices and actions will actually kill off everyone in your party and you can eventually be alone travelling towards the final destination alone and without help to fight the end boss. I have multiple endings planned including one where evil wins, another where the PC sacrifices himself/herself and another where good triumphs and another with a neutral ending plus there will be variations between all four endings.

Oh and as stated above, the player can progress through the game killing everyone but I also intend to include the option where the player can talk their way out of fights, persuade, sneak past enemies, distract them or disable them so they don't have to be killed. It is an RPG. So the player themselves can role play how they want and perhaps even be an atheist or question God in the game as the PC.

I'd be interested in feedback, ideas and even plot ideas and dialogue writers. You needn't own NWN or know how to mod it to help. Though I should warn that I intend for Gloria Ecclesia Templar to be a very dark and tragic story where all hope seems lost.

Decent idea, but it's preachy and you wouldn't attract a large audience. Religion is supposed to be personal in the first place, and who is to say that your interpretation of the bible portrayed in the game is the correct one?

Well Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, Assassin's Creed, Kingdom Under Fire and Dante's Inferno all touch upon religion and all of the games have a large audience.

Also I don't understand what you mean by interpretation because The Bible is clear on suffering, faith, sin, sacrifice and repentance. Again this isn't a game set in this universe nor will any Bible verses appear in the game.

What about a Shenmue style game of King David or some one else in the Bible? You start off when he is a shepherd and as you play you see him develop into the king and some of the major chapters could be him running from Saul and his downfall in trying to cover up his affair with Bathsheba. It would have a mix of fighting, role play and some LA Noir, Mass Effect speech mini games. It would show that people who were close to God have major weaknesses and the subtle message about Gods forgiveness.

Sounds like a good idea but it also sounds like the Unreal Engine would be needed for that. I don't think anyone here would tackle such an ambitious project.
