Your Armor

As a Christian, your a soldier. A soldier needs a uniform, a battle armor to wear. It's not only there for your protection, but it's there to tell the tale of what or whom your fighting for. It's your mark that tells the world what your all about, it's your story. Now, lets get started over viewing it shall we?

Your Helmet

The Helmet of Salvation. It is your head piece. As long as you wear it the enemy cannot attack your mind. It gives you a sense of peace and assurance. The Helmet of Salvation is also a representation of what you are, redeemed. Your are now a friend of God, your one of His soldiers. In order to acquire the helmet of Salvation, all you have to do is believe your a friend of God, believe in what he did for you at Calvary. As long as you take assurance in that, you are wearing the Helmet of Salvation.

Your Breastplate

The Breastplate of Righteousness. This is the centerpiece of your armor. It protects your core. The Breastplate of Righteousness reminds you of what your fighting for, it endorses acts of goodwill and uprightness. When you see one in trouble, you go to help. When you notice one in pain, you go to comfort. In order to acquire this piece, you must simply be just in your doings and avoid corruption.

Your Belt

The Belt of Truth. This piece is like your trusty utility belt. The Belt of Truth as the name implies is about honesty. Our Lord has made it a point that we be not only just in all our doings but honest. It's one of the things that separates us from corrupt. Through our honesty we are setting an example. It is to be one of the Christian's foremost earmarks that people can identify us by. And considering how dishonest people can be, it's a welcome relief. To acquire this piece, simply be honest and trustworthy in your doings.

Your Sandals

The Sandals of Peace, or in Trooper terms, your boots. As a member of God's Grand Army, our job is to spread the gospel. This piece is about spreading the message of peace (the gospel) wherever you go. It's also promotes being the life of a peacekeeper. Us Christians aren't to be known for starting fights, but we are certainly known for trying to end them as as peacefully as possible. In order to acquire this piece, simply spread the message of peace while also being a peacemaker.

Your Shield

The Shield of Faith. As a would be obvious, your faith IS your shield. This piece is what will keep you going through even the darkest of storms. Study of His word builds faith, as well as trust in him. There will be many a time you will find yourself plagued by doubt. But the key to defeating it is simple. Remember the Lord's promises. And if there is anything one should know about the Lord, he never makes a promise he knows he can't keep. To acquire this piece, simply believe God.

Your Sword

The Sword of the Spirit. This piece is your foremost weapon against the enemy as well as your tool for converting others to the cause. Meditating on the word of God, and applying it in your life as well as the lives of others is when your using it. Do not undervalue this weapon, it is your life in more ways than one. To acquire this piece, simply know the Lord's word and embrace it. Knowledge is Power, use it well.

Well, that about sums it up. You can consider the rest of the armor you'd normally see (like gauntlets, shinguards, etc) to be supplements to the shield of faith if you like. And for those of you who like blasting things you could even view your sword as a battle rifle. There is one other piece to the armor however. Although this piece is focused internally on molding you spiritually into what the Lord wants you to be. He's called the Holy Spirit. But that's a topic for another time (considering how much material I'm gonna have to cover for it). Feel free to ask about it until then. Always happy to help.

Your Rank

In God's Grand Army, rank designates one's effectiveness against the dark powers. In terms of authority over other Christians however, rank simply denotes experience. For example, you can't boss other Christians around if your Evangelist. You can advise them however due to your greater understanding of the word of God. But understanding of such does vary from Christian to Christian.
Anyways, there are 5 main ranks for Christians. Let's start with Believers.

Unit Rank: Trooper
Unit Designation: "Believer"

Believers are the new recruits. They are your standard troopers clad in white or 'shinnies'. Most of them are new to the cause and lacking in experience, but in time that changes. Believers tend to be some of the most fanatical of the other ranks considering the initial zeal they receive from their salvation experience. Due to this, they can be effective but require being pointed in the right direction due to their inexperience. They also need to be trained in the Word if they are to minister effectively. However, dealing with Believers can be a rewarding experience for a variety of reasons. For one they are much easier than the rest to train up. They also listen more then the other ranks and are more receptive to correction when they go awry. For a more experienced veteran, training up a Believer is considered an honor.

Unit Rank: Sergeant
Unit Designation: "Disciple"

Disciple's are our battle tested veterans. They have seen many battles, many trials, and many tribulations. They are no strangers to a darkest hour. And the experience they have gained from these events has made them an invaluable asset to the cause. They are much more effective at ministering and combating the forces of darkness than a standard Believer. As would be obvious, if you come across a Disciple, you can learn a lot from them if you take the time. Use their experience to your advantage, and be sure to encourage them if they need it. These individuals have been through a lot more than they admit.

Unit Rank: Lieutenant
Unit Designation: "Deacon/Inquisitor"

Deacons are the first of our officer’s corps. Deacon's specialize in more "insightful" knowledge of the word and are devoted to strengthening the true church of Christ. A Deacon spends their time studying the word and administering it in their lives and the lives of others when they see the opportunity. Deacons are also like Inquisitors due to their expertise in the word. Thanks to their in depth knowledge of the Bible, it's easy for them to locate heresy within the church and even at times root it out. They can also be looked to for advisement and support like any other follower of Christ. The difference being they are much more effective at it than your typical Christian. Some would even say gifted. Basically, they are more specialized in whatever field of Biblical knowledge they have than would be considered normal. If your quite the know it all at the Word, love to support others, and are talented at locating (and even rooting out) corruption then this would be your cup of tea.

Unit Rank: Captain
Unit Designation: "Preacher"

Ah, the ever charismatic Preachers. These individuals are the mighty Captains of God's Grand Army. In spirit, they lead entire battalions of our finest legions into battle against the forces of darkness. Their primary purpose is too constantly "ruffle" the feathers of the church to keep it in tip top fighting shape. Not only that, but they do whatever the Lord asks of them without question. Preachers often spend their time in prayer and meditating on the Word. The purpose being is to keep their minds ever on Christ, and in tune with the Holy Spirit. To minster the sermons they do, they need the Holy Spirit's inspiration on how to proceed. This is how a correct Preacher does it. They don't just preach whatever they feel like but they minster what the Lord lays upon their hearts, and they do it according to the Word. Just take note, you must truly feel the call on your life to become a preacher. Otherwise, you will do more harm than good.

Unit Rank: Commander
Unit Designation: "Evangelist"

The ever zealous Evangelist. Looked at as "God's Hammer" by the brethren, these units have made it a point in their lives to make those who oppose the Lord's will lives miserable (referring to the forces of darkness). They show utter contempt for heresy in the ranks and dream of a Church without spot or wrinkle. The primary endeavor of an Evangelist is to spread the Word wherever they go with utmost zeal. This "passion" of theirs is like a insatiable hunger to see lives changed on a scale that defies description. Whether it's a theater full of people or a football stadium they care not. They desire only one thing, the Lord's will be done. And it is a desire that drives them as if they were nothing more than a living extension of God's will itself. They are also experts at the word of God and take care in their studies of it. To become an Evangelist, one must not only feel the call on their life, but must truly know the meaning of what it is to serve the Lord.

Your Dogma

For a Christian, our dogma is our code of living, it's our standards, our beliefs. It's who we are as servants of the Lord. It's what we want people to see that stands out about us in the masses, it's what we want them to come to know. For us, our dogma is the Word of God, the Bible.

However, to truly understand our Dogma is a lifelong study that goes well beyond our time on this world. No one can ever know it all, save the Lord himself. Although I can try to start you out right on this study. Here are three scriptures to get you started.

II Corinthians 6:17-18
"Therefore, come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you. And, I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.”'
Means what it says. As followers of the Christ we are to stray from the unclean thing. Unclean being anything pertaining to "unholy, corrupt, deceitful, wicked, decadent, perverted, heretical, morally bankrupt, etc". Your in the Lord's service now, what you surround yourself with and believe should reflect the one you serve.

Galatians 1:6-10

"I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel, which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse! As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let them be under God’s curse!

Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ."

This scripture basically condemns any and all who either reject or try to twist and pervert the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. Anyone who comes preaching another gospel, even if they claim it to be from an Angel from heaven is therefore marked as "heretics". Automatically, I can think of quite a few heretics that the Lord isn't too happy with...

Also, the second part of this scripture addresses trying to appease both the Lord and people. It plainly states, you cannot do both. It's either one or the other. For in serving one, you alienate the other. You must choose your allegiance, and choosing the Lord far outweighs anything mere mortals can offer you. Like for one, Immortality.

Joshua 1:8

"This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success."
This scripture clearly states that one is to dedicate themselves to the lifelong study that is, "the Bible". The Lord's word is something we are to study and meditate on daily. For it builds you into what God wants you to be spiritually and more. In time, you'll find the wisdom in this Holy book more valuable than all the fame and fortune in existence. It was upon the Lord's word that the foundations of this Universe were laid. And it's by those same foundations it will be redeemed. Glory to the Christ.

Hopefully these three scriptures set the guidelines for you to get started. However, there is one last thing I feel I must say. As Christians, please brethren, do not show contempt or hatred for one another. Were to love each other, as one would a brother or sister, or father and mother. Just as well, were to treat those who do not believe with the same respect. Such is the earmark of a true follower of Christ. Faith, Hope, and Love are the Heart of a servant of the Lord. While Duty, Honor, and Courage the Soul of a member of His Grand Army.

That should cover it for this article. Just keep the comments clean. That is all.

Pretty sure this is what Christ would look like as a Jedi General. Anyone else think the same?
