The game wasn't even a game. Everyone who pines over it is just being a silly fanboy. Had they released it, it would have been hated by everyone; you lot only like it because you can't play it.
design whise i think you are actually right, people wouldn't liked it, not C&C enough. But the basic idea, a modern C&C FPS is wanted by the public.

If ea wasnt making it, It wouldve worked out.
It never got past the early development phases, though now that Generals 2 is being made with Frostbite 2... Perhaps will get a C&C FPS using the same engine. That would be great. Only downside is lack of mod-ability.
