I like Command and Conquer. I like all the games, no matter what company made them. I play them regularly. I own every single one, and I'm proud of it. I like C&C fanmade mods, I like C&C fanmade maps, and I like the discussion of all of these things. That's why I'm a member here, and that's why I'll stay a member here.

What I can't stand is whining bitching fans, no matter who they are and what allegiance they pledge. It almost seems like the C&C community as a whole spends more time complaining about C&C than they do playing it.

What I don't understand is all the irrational hate that's going around. You don't like a game, fine. Say that once (ONCE, please) and don't play it. Move on with your life, pretend like the game never existed. Even better, if you have the skills and motivation, mod it to make it better. If you don't like the engine, remake it on an engine you like. If you don't like the units, remake those. If you don't like the whole thing, remake it how you think it should be done.

What I want to happen is acceptance. The shitstorm around the Command and Conquer 4 beta, and the following forum explosion left a sour taste in my mouth about the whole C&C thing, but I bought the game anyway. I played it, I even (gasp) enjoyed it at times. It's here to stay, and no amount of angry players can change that. Every game has its faults, its bugs, its design mistakes, and every game can be better. Hindsight is 20/20. Developers can't always see mistakes while they're making the game. We need to accept that mistakes happen, and we need to collectively get over it.

Command and Conquer is in new hands now. Victory Games is working on a new C&C, and I have conflicting thoughts about it. The cynic in me says that no matter what happens, no game developer ever can recover the entire fanbase and unite C&C fans for once and for all. The optimist in me says that maybe the C&C community is leaving its bust and entering its boom.

So here's what I'm doing for the future. I'm helping with mods. I'm a particle artist for Red Alert 3 Paradox. I hope to be able to help with particles for any Red Alert 3 mod that needs help someday. I'm being an active community member. I give constructive comments, criticisms when necessary and I try to be a positive influence. I'm being an active player. I still play all of my C&C games (and even some non-C&C games).

And when the announcement of the new Victory Games C&C comes out, I'll go into it with an open mind. No more of this "they changed it now it sucks" mentality. And I hope that others emulate this mindset. Enough of us, and we might actually create a pleasant community for the game.

With all of this said, I'll be in-game, playing my favorite C&C titles, new and old, looking to the future, while still respecting the past.

Josh out. See you on the battlefield, fellow commanders.

Very well said and I agree with you for the most part but at the same part I can understand all the complaining that's going on. C&C 4 really was a let down for most people ( me included ).

Very well said indeed.

Also in any of these discussion I have never seen a good pro C&C4 argument. Sure many anti-C&C4 arguments are as stupid like: It's changed I don't like it, but some states why: lack of basebuildings/resources (the strategy part in RTS games), lame atmosphere, lack of infantry as we know them (fleshy stuff that gets crushed by treads). The pro arguments tend to be: every game has to evolve, they need to evolve to stay alive, bravo EA having the balls to change the game etc.

But never have I heared which changes was good, oh, except "yay crawlers" (translates into "it was good they removed R from RTS")

You couldn't of said it better.
Why can't we all put this in the past and think about Victory games, I have confidence that they will bring what the fans want and I don't want silly little idiots trashing it.
Like the old saying ''Don't judge a book by its cover''
