Hahahahahaha... No. I dont know if there is a god out there, and as long as there is no evidence for a god - No Elf, the biblical god is so selfcontradicting, that he cannot exist! - I have no reason to have any desire who this god might be. Joseph Aloisius Ratzinger, alias Pope Benedict, you are a moron!

He is right, if he say God exist, I want to know who it is. Problem is he has no answer... and he claims himself to be his closest representative.

(buried)

wait you actually want to know who God is if he exists?
that's surprising...

of course its surprising to someone who has no desire to know if their beliefs are true or not. You're fine with just accepting whatever you're told, which is fine i suppose. The world needs followers or leaders would be out of a job...

Because you either did not understand or they contradicted what you are indoctrinated with. Besides, noone was talking about evolution here except you started it.

Oh hell yes, my path to agnosticism was fueled by the desire to meet god. I NEVER got to talk to one and EVERY person I asked for help gave me a ******** answer or one that lead me to believe god actually 'talks to them'.

Only later did I find out what they actually meant by 'when god talks to you', was by circumstances. Immediately I knew Christianity was a ridiculous worldview.

I guess my deconversion was a little different than you guys. It wasnt the lack of god talking to me (i never believed in prayer or any of the god doing miricles in your life crap in the first place)
It was a friend of mine challenging me to step back and look at it from an outside view- to put aside all the indctronation of my childhood and look at it all as a whole scientifically, objectivly and logically.

few minutes later i was an atheist
i still often pretend to be a christain- as i did for along time on this site, it makes it easier to show the contradictions and idiocy and spread moderacy if you are doing it as one of the "flock".

why would you do something as evil as pretending to be a christian just to lead people astray? anyways i get what i believe, i believe it because it makes sense and without it the world doesn't make sense. based on my experiences i believe in God, but believing that there is God isn't the same as believing God. even satan believe in God but he doesn't want anything to do with God.

Yes its evil to pretend to be christain- but seems I am trying to help people see to truth and move away from the evil doctrines of supressive religion its for good. kinda like those who pretended to be a nazi to help jews escape the holocaut. the goals do justify the means.
And ironically i was a better christain than most i knew.
soyour point is silly.
And to you the world only makes sense with god, when i was 4 it was the same way with santa claus- i mean how else did those presents get under the tree? now i realize it was all just an illusion but at the time i thought it had to be.

Your worldview does NOT make sense. At all. The only reason you think it makes sense, is because you were indoctrinated into believing so.

Indoctrination alone does little if anything to save someone. Sooner or later they must choose for themselves. That choice better be on some good reasons. I choose to remain a Christian forever. That is partly because of the logic and reason that I saw on the Internet, as well as based on personal experiences. So why do I continue to comment here? So that you guys at least have some chance of understanding why I believe what I believe. It's not because of indoctrination, but because of education.

Well, what you are posting here is rather the result of indoctrination than education. If it was education you would at least understand scientific field like evolution, geology and astro physics. You wouldnt post so much garbage, regardless of your personal beliefs.

"I guess my deconversion was a little different than you guys."

There was never any "deconversion" in my case. You don't have to revert a process that didn't happen.

Czech republic will have a new president soon. A guy who once was prime minister won, beating current chief of diplomacy, Karel Schwanzenberg. As you may see from name, chief of diplomacy has Austrian ancestors (he is from aristocratic family actually), so the campaign was poisoned with antiaustrian and antigerman slogans. This is what press of Europe wrote about future president Miloš Zeman:
Germany and Austria: he has to know that he can't bash us just for free, we'll not invite him in Berlin
Slovakia: We expect further improvements in our relations
rest of EU: thanks God that EU critic Klaus is going away
Poland: Czech republic will have a new president, an atheist again

Hehe, those guys can finally get used to, it's for 65 years and they still wonder... xD

Man it must be nice to live in a place were atheism isnt seen as a dirty word.

Its not all bad growing up christain through- nobody expects you to do anything wrong so whenn the **** goes down and theres a bust they kinda ignore you cuz you must have been there by miskake. (note this does not work all the time, dont rely on it- some authority figures will actually do there job and get you)

Admiral put it quite straight and accurate. I am fueled by curiosity, not by faith. And meeting sentient creature different from humans (not necessarily almighty) is something I would look forward to.

There was a proof of God conference where a bunch of Christians got together and talked about the proof of God, I myself didn't see it, they recorded it on DVD so I will have to find it somewhere on the Internet (Probably YouTube) and watch it. Also I have posted links to some videos made by people that can sort of prove the existence of God.

What sort of proof? Christian apologists logic or any sort of crap like that? Or something like "miracels" that involve praying?

So watch it and tell it after that. Maybe on the front page so we dont have to dig through pages of pictures first before discussing about it.

I love to apply statements like this to Bertrand Russel's teapot. Exposes the sheer idiocy of the statement >_<

"Everybody, even people who don't believe there's a teapot in the asteroid belt, have the human desire to know what the asteroid-belt teapot is..."

I love it when religious people make statements like this. Not just do they use this as an excuse to push their religion into our lives, but everyone elses as well. Their religion HAS to be dominant it seems because they're so insecure knowing there's people who don't believe in their god. They just HAVE to claim "even the atheist knows there is a god".

That's an incredibly moronic claim, and embarrassing coming from the top religious official for the Catholics. Atheists don't believe in a god. That's what defines them. How can they 'know' one exists?

I agree Vel- but remember the majority of the religious think that we either
A. worship satan
or
B. "know" there god exists but just what to be raping murdering peodophiles (which is ironic because most of those are religious and not atheist to begin with).
so from there silly arrogant small bigoted view of there world it would make sense.

On another point if there turned out to be some form of higher beings that humans could mistake or call gods- yes i would like to meet them, given there superior nature they would in all likely hood not even knotice me or give a ****. but for me it would be interesting.
