I think that's a mutual belief, or I sure hope so.
Religion is just a form of organized faith; it only holds to be a true threat when it is forced upon others or is taken diehard seriously. Science can be enforced in the same form of way.
The main difference between the two is that one is a prediction of reality, while the other is a study of reality. I don't believe in good and evil though; morality is the advanced system we come to know that guides humanity's choices. Some people don't have it or have a skewed perception of it and that is where we get evil.
I've been annoyed by the very simplistic distinction of good and evil for years. I refrain from making very vague subjective generalizations like that, though my view can be simplified down differently, ignorance versus understanding. You know where theology stands.
There is no such thing as 'good' and 'evil' only shades of gray. Some good came out of the Nazi regime, but a lot of it is foreshadowed by the bad done (BTW i am a Communist so i'm not some Nazi Apologist, just saying the world's space programs would NOT exist if not for the Nazi's...)
Also to the author of this image: take a look at organized religion. It has been, and still is, used as a tool by the powerful to control and manipulate the weak.
Much like the Nazi's, religion has done a little good for society, however it is all overshadowed by the bad things done by it. I wouldn't say its evil (since i do not believe in that) but i will not say it is ok, 50/50, moderate... uh-uh. It is more like 99/1 (being generous there BTW)
moral of the story (and the rule that passes the barriers of all beliefs): Do to others what you would want done to yourself. I don't need to believe in a sky-daddy nor do any scientific experiment to figure that out...
EDIT: I should also clarify that when i say religion mean Christianity and Islam mostly. I have no problems with Buddhism and other, more peaceful, religions.
