It's a shame the late Model Japanese Fighters don't get as much Recognition as other country's late war fighters. Likely because they were not as produced in large numbers? Or people just cared about the Europe theatre more.

These planes were as fast as a Corsair or Hellcat, could out climb them and out dive them, and out maneuver them as well. They were on par with the P-51 and P-47 except top speed but could still out turn and out dive them, and were more capable of Inertia fighting.

Thanks for posting the picture of this little known Gem.

It's probably the fact that it was produced so late into the war where Japan had no hope of winning, if you think about late-war pacific-theater, you'd think of Cosairs and Hellcats just shooting down Japs non-stop and B-29s bombing mainland Japan.

While if you think about early-war Pacific-Theater, you'd think of Zeroes dominating the skies, it's pretty much just the victors getting more recognition.

Yes but still, the Mostly crap Soviet Aircraft ((Except the IL-2, LA-5, TU-2 and LA-7 which were all very good)) and German Planes like The TA-152 and even the DO-335 and HE-162 which came late still got more recognition ((notice I didn't say ME-262 because it was the first operational Jet)). I just think it's a little of what you said, and partly that people didn't care about the pacific theatre as much. Mainly because Hitler was the Perfect villain.

Umm, form what I understand Yak-3 wasn't a bad fighter either.

Except the Yak three couldn't pull out of a steep dive due to control surfaces locking up, and it's engine and weapons were highly unreliable.

Although it was easy to handle.

Well yeah... The incredible damage and suffering that both world wars did to our small country.. It's hard not to keep your attention away from the european scene rather than the far-from-bed pacific theater.

You should see the mass graves not far from where i live.. totally intimidating. In fact there's a famous german cemetary a few kilometres from here, dominated by giant old trees, unorthodox graves and 2 statues some of you might know;

Google.be

The remains of 22 500 german soldiers are buried there.

I guess you have not heard much about the pacific theatre and China during WW2 Wout :P

Although both were bad, imo it was the Asians, and and the Russians that suffered the most. ((Ironicly the Russians more so from their own government then the axis)) but every life is important..even if a country only had one person die, that single person still had a family that was terribly affected perhaps so we should be careful on how we put value on Casualties of war.

I know the sacrifices the asians and especially the russians brought during the world war.

I was just telling about what i & other people from my province see daily. Not that many belgians died directly.. It's when you see the mass graves of germans, french, brits and americans that it gets a bit freaky...

I think france suffered the most in world war one & Russia in world war two. The brits too.. they could not maintain their global position of power afterwards.

USA on the other hand... well they did help our sorry *** out but the way they did it can be a bit synonymous for their ongoing politics today :S overall they made a lot of profit... USA had several big companies in germany that were not nationalised and basicly profited of germany's war effort...

Then again with their loans we crawled out of the hole but the league of nations + the monroe policy was also a factor to a lot of turmoils in the 20th century..
