It's pretty true.. Aviation Week Rips this plane in similar Fashions as well as some of the Writers for Jane's.

But saying this thing is a Dog is being to nice XD

Owing to heavy design compromises foisted on the plane mostly by the Marine Corps, the F-35 is an inferior combatant, seriously outclassed by even older Russian and Chinese jets that can fly faster and farther and maneuver better. In a fast-moving aerial battle, the JSF “is a dog … overweight and underpowered,” according to Winslow Wheeler, director of the Straus Military Reform Project at the Project on Government Oversight in Washington, D.C.

And future enemy planes, designed strictly with air combat in mind, could prove even deadlier to the compromised JSF.

That said it all.

Ok, F-35 = Bad. I think most people get the message already.

I don't think anyone is expecting the F-35 to be the next-gen 'Air-Dominance' fighter that everyone demands it to be, I personally don't think it's meant to be in the same catagory as the PAK-FAs or the F-22s that everyone's expecting it to be, it's meant to be the general purpose fighter for many countries airforces.

No one in sane mind is going to buy this aircraft with the current pircetag. Besides, it can't even serve as a "general purpose fighter".

Actually Deathgod..

My issue with the F-35 is how Lockheed, **** Cheney, And certain members of Congress Handled the JSF program and Blatantly played Favorites, Lying to country's and even the armed forces of the US about it's capabilities, Listening to Lockheed's Lobbyists and Killing Programs that had tons of potential for this thing. Now this plane is the only choice for America...Because of Greed from Politicians and certain contractors. I could write more but that is the big reason.

And Raptor is Correct in his above statement as well.

P.S. I have been Critical of the F-22 as an Air dominance Fighter as well. But the F-22 has a ton of potential in other roles as I have stated Such as Multi-role fighter etc.

But thank the F-35 for Killing the F-22 Variants as well...and the F-22 itself.

And for the so called General Purpose fighter ..Just give me my Good Ol' F-16 or Mig 29.

P.S. IMHO I think both the F-22 and YF-23 should have been put into Production.

I think you guys lightened pretty well the conceptual flaws of this aircraft with those short descriptions.

Description

"The F-35 was compromised by, well, compromise. A warplane can be maneuverable like the F-16, tough like the A-10, stealthy like the F-117 or a STOVL model like the Harrier.

A plane might even combine some of these qualities, as in the case of Lockheed's nimble, radar-evading F-22. But it's unrealistic to expect a single jet design to do everything with equal aplomb.

Most of all, it's foolish to believe a jet can launch and land vertically--a seriously taxing aerodynamic feat—and also do anything else well."
