And yes I'm excited about this jet. After all the identical looking 5th gen jet and "next-gen" trainer/attack we have been getting for the last few years, we finally have something the actually stands out of the crowd.

Well. It's still alive, so that's something. Interesting looking craft, certainly the smallest we've seen in this tier so far.

What's with the downwards flaring of the wingtips?

To provide a stable flight surface without the need for a complex fly-by-wire. Boeing tired it with their Bird-of-prey concept and it worked pretty well: En.wikipedia.org
