..she's still a cool looking jet.
Sometimes I wonder, What if LM completely removes that heavy VTOL engine and all other relevant features form the Lightning and makes is a full-blown conventional low observable multirole fighter? Given the fact it dose have the most powerful engine ever put one a single engine fighter jet, it likely will become a monster.
Yes, but that makes sense and would be good. Government contracts aren't supposed to make sense (especially when you have a collection of a dozen or so nations interested in purchasing it, each with their own unique requirements).
The airframe is an issue too.
Remember they had that JSF Compatition for a reason, though i do find humourous that both of the latest gen jets the US has F22 and this F35 both have faild all the othe gens seemed to kick as :)
The F-22 is not a bad plane, just in the wrong role. Should have Varients and be a multi-role fighter instead of an Air superiority fighter.

First off you know nothing about aircraft, you just would rather down vote someone instead of trying to make an argument. I mean not knowing about something is fine but when you get all Hissy Pissy instead of asking or refusing to hear what others say that's well..silly.
I have had many people here disagree with some things I have said here but you know what? They Tried to make their case with very Valid arguments, and I responded in kind. I don't think the F-35 is a bad looking plane..It's just not a good plane.
Soon i hope.. from what i hear the US will soon be unveiling a new kind of plane.. as fast as the SR-71 an as Maneuverable as an SU-47 idk if this is true just something i picked up from a friend of mine on a AFB in Colorado
But then again it could be a rumor.. Or not because all these 5th an soon 6th gen fighters coming out that i see other countries with are friggen scary *******.. Makes me wanna carry a FIM-92G with me everywhere i go if i'm in a future war with any of them.. Except Iran.. it looks like they Glued their 5th gen fighter Together Still think the F-14 super cat would kick it's ***.. an the F/A-18 Super hornet.. both my Favorite fighters
I'm pretty informed on the going ons in the industry and never heard of such rumor or news.
This came to me when i was up in Colorado visiting a friend near Colorado Springs. Never Said an Industry just said i heard it from a friend that works on an AFB.. We were drunk so he could have been full of it.. or overheard something but as i said I really don't know nor care till i see more info just thought i would share some info on a Drunken Air force Mechanic :D
