Well there was a story about an Israeli Pilot landing his F-15 without an wing.
Boeing said it was impossible but pffffttt this guy proved them wrong, with this rare awesome case of skill, a lot of luck, guts, & quick reaction.
Great plane, it is our main AA/AG jet, its the most numerous military jet here, the second is the Mirage 3E, third Mirage 2000, fourth is the AT-26 Xavante ( Airliners.net )and the A-4 in our only aircraft carrier.
They may be obsolete but they are still pretty dam cool.
I disagree, classic dogfighters are the planes from ww2, like mustang, or bf 109
try to land without 1/3 of your wing in F18, or some new plane

My mistake it was McDonnel Douglas at the time because Boeing didn't bought them out & merged yet.
you forgot the Spitfire
indeed the US P-47 & Soviet IL-2 were more or less flying tanks that could take more than a beating xD
but IL2 wasn't dogfighter, it was "tankcrusher"
So was the P-47 both the planes were effectively used as multi role combat planes.
Great dogfighter!
