See this is what I'm talking about with those red triangles. What the hell are those? Lol I'll stop being such a downer though. That's a nice-*** AK-74M, drawing even has the muzzle brake and front sight base correct.

Ceramic plates inserted into the armor? So Duty paints the material above the ceramic plates for aesthetic's sake...

That's my guess.

Standart bulletproof vest used by Stalkers and every faction in the zone....not including mercs. Duty, Freedom, Loners(egg head universal armor), use these standart vests, the colors variate on depending the faction.....nothing special to it. Each color represents there faction. Red is duty, Blue or green is Freedomer and so on. These triangels i believe is the some sort of a extra padding to the armor? iv never seen these types yet exist in this decade but its not hard to figure out what and how this type of vest function. its light and does NOT protect your stomach area and same goes for the the chestrigs used by Freedom faction. Bullets may hit the magazines? i guess that would protect but in real life thoes mags in chestrig would eather expload or simply ruin the mags of m4 or what ever u got there. Thats why you see mostly EVERY stalker use a dump bags and ak47 mag bags to attach on there belts. Thoes who use chestrigs like military spetsnaz and grunt have a light bulletproof vests undernief the chestrig for support. The extra pimp on these vests are for scratches and bite and so goes the whole suit u see on stalkers. Unless you got an EXO suit, you will never be protected against the bullets, scratches or explotions.....and yet again welcome to the Zone where Radiation plays a major part aswell along side flying bullets and mutant bites in the night :)
