Weird Worlds: Return to Infinite Space is a hybrid roguelike game of space exploration, adventure and starship combat set within an unusual region of the galaxy known as the Purple Void. Each time Weird Worlds is played, a new and different instant space opera is generated (nebulae, black holes, stars, planets, lifeforms, races, artifacts, items, starships, events, quests...), but unlike other games of the roguelike kind that go on for dozens of hours, it plays to its conclusion in less than thirty minutes. Features also include a fully animated star map, a unique turn-based movement system, real-time starship battles (naval/Wrath of Khan style), spaced-out music and sound, mod friendliness and access to all ships in the game via a robust battle simulator.

First off, let me say that Indie developers are the foundation of all PC gaming. Even when there are giant like EA and Ubisoft around, they would be so giant if it weren't for the little guys.

Graphics
Weird Worlds uses a custom 2D overhead engine. While simplistically using sprites instead of the usual polygon, it maintains some level of eye candy to fill fans heart with joy.

Sound
The audio is not bad. Not good, but not bad. A little flat, kind of monotonous, but unless you are specifically listening for oddities, you will be completely transported by it.

Game-play
Not only does it have a single-player campaign, it has a battle simulator. In this simulator you can summon countless numbers of ships from nearly all the races in the game. They will come out in formation and have grand space battle that are a joy just to sit back and watch.

Not only are there giant space bugs, space lizards, robots, and any variety of space creature under the sun, the standard game has and immense amount of customization of your ship.

Iceing
This game is based around mods. Not little tiny mods that might change your speed or something. I am talking about the nitty-gritty. Anything you would like to change about the game, including adding/removing/modifying all the weapons/races/ships/planets/dialogue/quests, is just a text document away from making all your dreams a reality.

In Closing
This game is a must have. If you are interested at all in science fiction, role playing games, or strategy games, you will be hooked. This game can be played off a USB key. If you aren't so certain about liking it, go play the demo, it's around 25MB's compressed, so the whole process shouldn't take you more than 25 minutes to download, install, and play your first game.

It has INFINITE replay value just in the campaign mode. Add in the mod support and you have a game that can suck hours of your life down the drain. Buy this.

This game is pretty much a great way to spend a half hour here or an hour there.

The long and the short of it- your a space captain on a 10 - 30 year mission to seek out new life, explore new worlds, and boldly go where no man has gone before. And, at least at first, likely die a lot along the way.

Of course, there's some depth to the game, some cool random events, fights to be had, and black holes to surpise you. And this is all in like the first day I've had it! More then worth it so far!

One of the best roguelikes I've played in my life. I got it from IGS for just 1$, without knowing what it was, and it was a good call. Don't wait for a sale if you can afford it, as it's worth every penny .

I've played it 6 years ago and I'm glad to see it coming back. One of my favourite rougelikes ever. Simple and addictive game.

My current gaming addiction. Whenever I a little time free on the computer, chances are I'm playing this. Lots of replayability, always satisfying to completely explore the map each time, easy-to-learn simulation/combat mechanics, and some nice visuals and sound design. My only complaint: I wish there were some easy-to-find mods out there.

A fantastic coffe break game, with a great attitude and interesting gameplay. Fun music and graphics add a nice touch to compulsive and well executed gameplay.

I thought it was pretty fun, just don't really read the tutorial. If you've ever played Space Pirates and Zombies, then this is very similar to that game.

A few things that I loved was just how great the mechanics was. The game is very smooth and it really is fun.

The only problem I have is that there isn't enough! The game is too short, and you only get about one or two hours before the game ends... They need to make the world Infinite! Then I think the game will be really enjoyable, hopefully in a later update though :C
