The Omnipoint System is the preferred method for outfitting the flexible cruiser class with weaponry and equipment.
The system consists of a set of standardised “hardpoints” and “omnipoints” which corresponding components can be inserted into; this allows an unparalleled level of customisation without the expense of developing a bespoke starship.
Hardpoints are designed to take important core systems that would require deep access to the starships hull, there are 5 types of Hardpoint;
Engine Hardpoint
This Hardpoint takes the crafts propulsion system; this controls a starships speed, agility and acceleration.
Reactor Hardpoint
This Hardpoint takes the crafts primary reactor; this controls a starships capacitor size, recharge rate and charge type.
Communications Hardpoint
This Hardpoint takes the crafts communications suite; this controls a starships sight range, sensor range and ECCM.
Jump Drive Hardpoint
This Hardpoint takes the crafts Jump Drive; this controls a starships jump range, it also the control unit for co-operative or counter-operative play.
Primary Hardpoint
This hardpoint is different for whatever role the starship was designed for and takes the starships primary offensive system, this could be a Drone Control Unit for a carrier or a Heavy Weapon for a Battlecruiser.
In addition to these “Hardpoints” there are also 3 types of “Omnipoints”. “Omnipoints” differ to hardpoints in that they can fit a variety of modules depending on their configuration.
Offensive Omnipoint
These Omnipoints usually take secondary weapon systems, while secondary weapons usually lack the firepower of the Primary weapon their utility and quantity more than makes up for it.
Defensive Omnipoint
These Omnipoints usually take the starships defensive systems, such as Armor Plates, Shield Generators, Active Shield Systems, Afterburners, Armor Reinforcers and many others.
Utility Omnipoints
These Omnipoints take the starships utility equipment, such as Electronic Warfare systems, Ammo Fabricators (required for ammunition based weaponry), Auxiliary Reactors and many others.
