Plot in the zombie movies is a pretext to appear the most horrifying creatures. In "Regenaration," Ash is sent to a hospital for criminals and the doctor responsible for the site, Dr. revenge, is conducting strange experiments using the Necronomicon, the Book of the Dead popularized by the writer H. P. Lovecraft.
Before being sent to the hospital, Ash is in the cabin where the book was malignant found for the first time. And there, he and the player learn how the system works to combat the game, very similar to several games of action to combat, like "Devil May Cry," a classic of the PlayStation 2. I mean, the player can attack with blows infighting or to firearms.
Here what matters is the action, and you do not have to worry about reloading ammunition or because the stockpile of bullets is endless. The player can choose whether to kill an enemy of your choice or use the automatic target, which is activated with a squeeze of a button. The most interesting aspect of the combat system are the fatal blows.
When the enemies are about to die, they emanate a bright green, a sign that the player can apply a attack of mercy. In this case, Ash is full of scams style, so in the end, ending the suffering of the opponent. Several of these animations and, on occasion, the screen gives a greater emphasis to the motion, to the delight of spectators. Fortunately, the opponents did not attack during the coup.
Not that the artificial intelligence of them is better in other situations. How typical zombies, skeletons and all kinds of dead-alive, all they do is run up the protagonist and try to pull him the skin. Some use missiles to try to prevent Ash. Either way, stop the run and shot for the sides are enough to finally to most opponents.
In hospice, Ash not mind, the guy with the electric saw and that the rifle became famous. But he also does not get much time with the original equipment. Throughout the adventure, new weapons will be incorporated into the arsenal of the hero, as a harpoon that brings enemies to close and a flame-thrower. They guarantee the satisfaction of decimating the opposition, but on the other hand, means that the challenge is almost nil. And, using less powerful weapons, you become easy prey for the zombies.
In addition to the shares of killing, there are some situations where you must jump from platform to platform, but the strange leap of character means that these parties are quite inefficient, and show a lot of mistakes. Fortunately, these places do not appear very often. There are also some elements of exploration, to search for items that release in some extra game.
Even more than in battles, the puzzles begin to get repetitive very quickly. After a while, collecting souls for the Soul Eater is nothing but desestimulante. The player can also take a demonic way, but it ends up being superfluous, because it is used in some situations, against the bosses, for example. Even so, these monsters are not so difficult that way.
The subtitle "Regeneration" seems to allude to the second character, which follows Ash after leaving the hospital. This little - half human, half deadite (zombie) - serves as the Sam and is able to regenerate even if your body is despedace a lawn-mower. He seems to be more of the jokes of the producer Sam Raimi and Parody is the brother Ted Raimi.
Sam is responsible for the funniest moments of the game, because Ash is taking advantage of his immortality for committing the most barbaric attacks against the unfortunate. Turn and move it kicked off - a legitimate goal kick - against fans, ovens and all kinds of dangerous places. Sometimes this is part of solving puzzles, but on most occasions is just a sadistic fun.
Ash can also control the body of Sam, which makes use of his small stature to come close in places, solved some puzzles and make some dirty services. The end of their mission is restricted to the same character Kenny from "South Park": the most varied and absurd ways to die. Sam also serves to be played against opponents who are unable to defend themselves.
The work of visual game is a little uneven in quality. There are good scenarios as the swamp and the temple, with complex structures and visually pleasing, or the hospice, which has a gloomy atmosphere that combines the game. But there are environments without inspiration, as the cemetery and catacombs, in addition to simply ugly places, such as the Port Turnham.
The characters appear far half of the game and have enough details to the situation. What gives life to these 3D animations are quite extensive. In non-interactive scenes, the producer opted for a more cartunesco design, which ensures maximum expressiveness and help at the comical.
The game may seem violent, but, despite having a lot of blood and mutilation, everything has a vein of humor. The graphics are not realistic, but are not suitable for very young audiences.
The music track is tiny and the sound effects are just average. But the dublagens save the department of sound. Bruce Campbell thinks the character as anyone and Ted Raimi has a good chemistry with Bruce. His dialogues are living in non-interactive scenes and even in conversations that occur when a player leaves the characters stopped. It is a joke after another, typical of comedy shows starring for a double. Ash makes comments to each new area or the action taken, and the lines are rarely repeated.
"Evil Dead: Regeneration" can, in part, pay a debt with his fans, because the other two games were very weak. This is not to claim any title that has become a classic, as the number of movies that originated, but offers honest fun, even for a short time. Who is not particularly attached to the universe of "Evil Dead" can rent the game, spending the weekend and never remember him. For fans, brings some worthy moments with Bruce and Ted talking about his experience in the production of the game.
