"The Deep Well" is a free indie-horror title in which you play as a person who fell  into a well.
But this isn't a "normal" well ...
Hunted by monsters and noises, the player must find the way out of this maze.

But... is there a way out?
What are this monsters?
Why can you hear such strange noises in this place?

The goal of this game was to create a 100% dynamic experience which doesn't use any scripted
events at all. The levels are randomly generated while the monsters have an own AI which
tries to make your life into a living nightmare.

Features:

- No installation. Just download & play
- 100% dynamic gameplay (no scripted events)
- random maze generation
- 3 Levels - each one represents a bigger maze than the previous one.

The game includes an autosave feature. So don't worry about loosing your progress.
(it saves your progress after entering a new level.)

Make sure to read the README.txt for additional information.
(Especially for people who want to capture footage. The game has "little" problems
with Fraps which can be bypassed easily.)

Wow, this game almost made me cry. It has a great environment that keeps you frightened all the time. And each level has different monsters if I'm not incorrect, which really gives you the oppurtunity to play it over and over again. My let's play --> Youtu.be

I've gotta say my FAVORITE incorporation in the game is the camera. It looks so well done and made the experience extra terrifying when looking over the shoulder. As far as the atmosphere, I appreciated some of the sounds, but others I didn't quite understand. I felt like there should be meaning to the sounds (the static, tension-building "zing"(?)) and I kept waiting for that to be resolved but maybe that's part of the psychology aspect of the game? That we're left hanging? Anyway, I hope to get past the third level of the game. I kept running into dead ends (literally)! Personally, I don't think that's a bad thing at all. :)

If I can be so brash, I'd like to share my first attempt at the game (3 in total which I'll release in the next two days, which culminate in "beating the game")

Hey Darklewa. Just wanted to say I was definitely impressed by the atmosphere of the game altogether. Where as being actively hunted by one of the demons can be tense, I felt even more so when I'd hear the noises in the background and those piercing "white lights" in the darkness. A person mentioned not liking the system of batteries running out and leaving you out of luck, but I feel that adds to the immersion further. In a real life scenario, that can and would happen. Out of light? Hope for the best or try again. Either way, thanks for this great little title.

Thank you! I saw your LP's. :) They are awesome.
I saw that you are using a fairly old version of the game (v1.1) the newest is v1.16 which contains a ton of bugfixes and gameplay tweaks. (I believe that the version 1.1 even had a saving/loading issue of the savegames...)

I did send you a PN via Youtube with a description of how to transfer the savegames. You should be able to transfer your savegame from the 1.1 version to the 1.16 version.
