Your castle walls are being smashed by siege engines, an enemy catapult surrounded by troops is rumbling ever closer, your villagers are starving, wolves have been spotted in a nearby cave, your barracks are desperately empty... just another typical day for a medieval lord in FireFly Studios' Stronghold 3. Since first launching in 2001, the Stronghold series has become one of the most respected in its genre thanks to its mix of precision village building, fast-paced real-time gameplay and dramatic sieges with hundreds of enemies swarming over your castle. Stronghold 3 promises to be the best yet, with a keep full of fantastic new features that ensure old and new fans alike experience a gritty slice of medieval life.

So Crusader 2 is coming (with skirmish) and without the awful publisher that forced the quick release of this game but I still have no intention of picking it up.

Obviously SH3 is an awful game but one of the big problems I had (overlooking skirmish) was the UI, camera and FEEL of the game.

Let's take Starcraft 1 and 2. They feel the same despite going from 2D to 3D. The camera angle and elevation is perfect and paithful to the original. SH1 compared to 2 & 3 have had a difficult time doing this. It feels like a mess.

Units are incapable of running, spearmen throw their weapons away then attempt to use a pocket knife. Peasants still spawn slowly, some use SH1 quotes while some new lines of dialogue are purely text, building placement feels clunky and wall placement is worse.

Massive seiges no longer feel amazing, I can't help but look on in awe at what can only be described as a moshpit of units clipping through eachother in the smallest place possible.

Honestly, given how quickly Firefly abandoned this game, I see no reason to expect many lessons learned other than "add skirmish".

i actually loved stronghold 2 i felt they did a really good job on that game especially the skirmish option, it looked nice, the little things were cool like being able to look into your castle during a feast or a dance but i really completely agree with and wish i read your comment before i got this pathetic excuse of a stronghold game

You do realize that they NEVER planned to have skirmish in the game. They said It was to be as close to the first game as possible. So if you have ever played the first first game, you would know that there isn't skirmish.

Maybe your right about the modding tools, but even then it was made to be like the 1st stronghold. Now, if they made a crusader 2 you might see that

sign up in this petition and lets get their attention!

Ipetitions.com

the target of this petition is to force firefly to add skirmish like in crusader, to stronghold 1 or release the gm1 code so we can mod it. firefly must release also tools like AIV and new ones for modifying the AI's army selection and the ability to add new fully configurable AI opponents.
----
You me and the rest of the good customers of firefly we pay money and we continue
do that.

what firefly do in return?
releases stronghold crusader "extreme" a pathetic excuse of a game with no point what so ever. instead of adding skirmish in the existing one stronghold 1.

We sent massages but we get nothing in return. all we see its a faceless company!

they don't want to release gm1 code, and so we cant mod.
if they want to keep it secret ok but in return do what we want!
WE are buying and you sell it.

What we want is:
1)add skirmish like in crusader, to stronghold 1 OR release the gm1 code so we can mod it.
2)release also tools like AIV, and new ones for modifying the AI's army selection, and attack methods.
3)the ability to the user to add new fully configurable AI
opponents.(faces,voices,animation,army customization.ect..)

We will not buy any of your games if you don't proceed as we ordered.

The latest patch has made Stronghold 3 playable for the campaigns, go try it out since it ramped up the gameplay pace to match Str1/2!

At the moment, Stronghold 3 is unfinished, yet has been commercially released. Initially steam users discovered they had a French only version so wasted their money. No retailers in the UK had it on release day due to a fiasco over supply and pricing while Amazon still seems to have phantom copies in the post. The game itself has been rushed to meet a deadline. There are only a small handful of maps, all of which have many visible bugs and absolutely massive amounts of texture stretching. The game…
