Star Wars: X-Wing AllianceN/A | Released Feb 25, 1999X-Wing Alliance offers the most in depth Star Wars deep-space combat experience on the PC. The game features a different style than the simpler Rogue Squadron series. X-Wing Alliance is a simulation, putting the player in a realistically balanced fighter craft that can blast holes in anything from a Star Destroyer to a TIE Interceptor. X-Wing Alliance has both multiplayer and a single player campaign that follows a family of smugglers getting drawn into the galactic civil war.

This game was the best flight simulator of star wars! But... not have a sequel :(
What happened to A Dark Prophecy?
I wonder why they never made a sequel. I mean really, you gotta give the developers some credit for doing good storytelling, in a flight sim! Not to mention the largest amount of Star Wars craft ever seen in a game. I'd love to see another one. Heck, I wouldn't mind 2 or 3 more. :) I said it once and I'll say it again, WHY HAS NOBODY MADE A SEQUEL???

I had to do a recovery and now I cant get either of these games to download,they worked just fine before,I was able to get Battle Front downloaded,I contacted Lucas arts and they wherent much help.If any one has any Ideas please let me know at svaldez68410@yahoo.com
ive had x-wing VS tie fighter for ages but could never play it because fo teh joystick issue, now i remember i have the Logitech Rumble Pad 2 and it works with it ^_^
The Ai is cheating in a bloody spectacular way. They are not affected by starship tractor beams, their systems do not get destroyed by standard laser shots, they do not take damage from engine wash and they have faster shield recharge.
Of course they have more advantages but I haven't played with this game for at least half a year, so that's all I can recall by heart.
What I admire in this game is how craft can be made nice without ten-thousand poly models. You only need some good textures and your model looks nice.

It should run fine with XP. Maybe check the XWAUP Boards(link below) for some hints. The issue is definitly solvable.
