A classic shmup style game, Space TV pits the player against the retired space ships of the Allied Space Navy for the chance to win riches beyond their wildest dreams! The player will be able to choose a ship, each with unique attributes (health, speed, weapon slots), a set of weapons to fit out, including double lasers and repeater lasers, and a modifier, like double score or a starting shield. Starting with only the basics, players will unlock new ships, weapons and augments through completing certain levels, beating the game or just luck! Aside from the first level, levels are random - you could have an easy run, or could end up facing your worst nightmare on the second level!

First update!

News

It's been two weeks on the game (roughly), and it's come together quite nicely in that time.

And now comes the bit where I struggle - completing it.

I've done one level. The logic is all there - all that needs adding are perhaps a few new AI logic scripts (for movement mostly), obstacles and a bunch of bosses.

It's the content creation that always slows me down, and I don't know why. As a kid, I'd only design the content. As an adult, I only do the logic and some of the art!

Some of the art I've done isn't too bad for a pure programmer. We have some of the ships you'll be piloting:

And a boss, which I thought was pretty neat:

It's all good, I just feel a bit burnt out. I feel that working as a programmer all day and then coming home only to do more is killing my brain cells a bit. I do 40 hours of paid work in the week, as well as about 3 hours of Space TV every day, then at least 8 hours on a weekend. All that programming can't be good for a man!
Well it's coming along anyway. I want to post a playable demo soon. Today I want to get the linking between levels done, then really all I have to do to get the bulk done is add a few levels. It takes time, but I'm learning every day, and who knows, I might have a playable game in a few months time!
