Shallow Space is a 3D Real Time Strategy game inspired by Nexus: The Jupiter incident and Homeworld. Shallow Space focuses on organised mass RTS space combat in a fully 3D environment. Ships in Shallow Space are nearly always grouped into Flotillas and Wings, and orders issued to these structures cascade to the subordinate members. Rather than stressing out clicking on the units or dragging selection boxes during the heat of battle, standing orders are issued in advance leaving you to zoom around, activating abilities and arranging support and reinforcements. Should the tide turn in battle traditional control is still available.

Yo man! Is there any chance that some of the beam weapons will act like the Ori beams from SG1? Meaning that their end sort-off looks like a traveling projectile which you really don't want to hit your ship. I really dislike when all the beams like instant hit the target :D.

Yeah man, well I coded three types - instant, slicing and fading, I didn't think of doing the Ori beams actually but they could be a variation of the slicing quite easily and I need something funky looking for the heavy plasma beam - so thanks for the suggestion :)

I don't really like the instant hit ones either but people kept bitching about 'how unreal it is' the beams shown above slice towards their target, easier to tell who is firing at who - look forward to the next video ;)

Thanks man, that would be cool, more kind is the best way to go. :D

One other wee suggestion, Star Trek Armada had an interesting feature that when something cool has happened outside of your current view a short camera cut scene of that event was shown at the side in order to bringing it to your attention.

I always missing this old feature from newer RTS games.

Anyhow, don't let me stir you away from your vision, just keep up the great work!!!

well, the only thing i hope for that there may be one other game in which beam cannons feel as awesome as in Freespace 2 :P
