Secrets of Grindea is an old-school RPG, with co-op support for up to 4 players. In the world of Grindea everything is determined by one thing - how big you collection of stuff is. You take on the role as a young hero (or heroine) taking his or her first steps to become a famed Collector and help collect the most valuable rares in the entire kingdom! The game features zelda-ish gameplay, but with deep character customization and skill systems. We have no classes; you build your hero from scratch putting skill points in almost anything you want, with no level caps holding you back. We have a lengthy main story with dungeons in all shapes and colors, as well as multiple side-quests and hidden secrets~ All this can be played with up to 4 players co-op, or just by yourself if you're more of a single player guy.
This is only a review based on 1 hour of play. This game gives off the best first impression of any indie game to date. One of my favorite games ever was Earthbound for the snes. This games feel, and sense of atmosphere ranks right up there with that game. I remember being lost in that world, and so far, I have been lost in this world. What a great start to this game. I will further update my review as time goes on, and I put more time into it.
The humor, the animations, the smart combat; what's not to like!
Absolutely brilliant game!
The combat is extremely well designed with perfect blocks, frame cancels and dodges feeling satisfying. The aesthetics and music match the game's ideology well. The skills and items offer a good amount of customization and replay value. Plenty of aesthetic choices to change the way your character looks. The story is pretty well written with some funny dialogs here and there. The roguelike/arcade mode is a real gem, balancing difficulty with fun very well.
I honestly have almost no complaints about the game thus far other than it's length; but it's only a beta!
Definitely looking forward to the full release! Don't miss it folks!
Although this game is in beta the current state is amazing. Through the simple and friendly graphics that allow an audience of children to play; to the competitive and difficult challenges allowing an older audience to fight for 100% completion and go for a high score in arcade mode. This game overall just exceeds the expectations and provides an awesome way for me to have fun. If you haven't, sign up for the beta and try it out yourself while watching their updates to keep track of the progress they are doing. Thanks again and here's to good future development.
