Post news Report RSS Cutscenes and Area Three Screenshots

We've been working on the third area of the game, and a lot of cutscenes. It's a lot of work to get them right, but we have a lot to show from them!

Here are a couple of screenshots from the new area of the game!

The first is just the beginnings of some art assets and graphical style:

The second is testing a new effect to make some of the interactable objects more visible. Its not finished, we are making it smaller and less commanding:

This is a similar effect for interactable items on the ground:

Another gameplay element we are getting working:

Its not yet as beautiful as we would like, but functionally it is looking good.

Most of what we've been working on recently has been cutscenes. Not only are these a massive time-sink (programming special events, bug testing, fixing timing issues), but they also require a lot of art assets. While we are keeping a lot of it under tight raps so as not to spoil the surprise, there are some things I can show you:

New Art Assets for Cutscenes:

So that is what we're doing at the moment! The game currently has 10+ cutscenes, ranging from a few seconds to about two minutes. At the moment 2-3 are completely finished, 4 are 80-90% complete and only a couple are yet to be started. We are going to use these key points in the story as the backbone of the game.

That's all for now! For more information about how the cutscenes work, you can check out this article we wrote: Voltic.com.au
