The image you see here is the start of the start menu; in project fury we are focusing on immersion so there wont be the traditional splash screens and game menus in its place on boot up you will be presented with a screen much like an OS boot up screen with a user login screen which is how you select your profile. What you see here is an animated gear inspired by the Heathen Engineering logo rendering on the "login" screen; Heathen Engineering will be in game as the developer of your OS :) so we can sneak the credits and other legal bits in within game context i.e. the OS TOS and your game settings or "Control Panel" will load along with the other "applications" on selection of a profile i.e. logging in. From there you will transition into checking your events (mission selection) in a manner similar to checking an feed or e-mail client and will manage your fleet and other game elements through virtual HUD like applications.
Once we have the Login screen complete we plan on releasing a video demonstration of the system running; the screen shot was taken in engine running in debug mode. Assets where created with Blender and we leverage a few of the stock Unity Pro shaders such as water to provide the portal effect.
