Platinum Arts Sandbox is a free open source 3D Game Maker and 3D Game Design program currently being used in many schools throughout the world that allows kids and adults to create their own video games, worlds, levels, adventures and quests, even cooperatively! The goal is to make it accessible to kids but also powerful enough for full game projects. With a simple click and roll of a mouse wheel users can modify the world however they want. In the words of Margaret, a nine year old Sandbox whiz I babysit for, “Press Edit and go fulfill your dreams!”. Now features new game modes such as sidescroller, machinima, kartmode, RPG, and more! The first episode of The Exciting Adventures Of Master Chef Ogro Fruits And Vegetables Extraordinaire has been released! The Platinum Arts Sandbox RPG is a branch off of the main version of the open source free 3D Game Maker. The free download is available at the new Platinum Arts Sandbox webpage, SandboxGameMaker.com
The majority of the content was created by High School students and it has already been accepted at a College festival and competition. The RPG features produce magic and monsters and many levels to explore. The project has been kept kid friendly with mild animated combat which features monsters becoming "full" and unable to attack. The RPG contains many new powerful features, including the ability to easily add and tweak NPCs, monsters, spells, etc. Though kid friendly, without much effort the RPG could be used to create a non kid friendly game.
The main version of sandbox is getting a ton of awesome updates! It has been reported that Sandbox runs even faster now, and there are tons of new features coming up, including a map with a working train! Check out the screenshot in the custom content section! DUDE! GREAT CUBE 2 MOD
ARE U GUYS GANA ADD VEHICLES 2 THIS 2 DRIVE AROUND.
Does this mean it is possible to create a tactical-grid based rpg on the cube engine?
it's possible, but the engine's more suited for 3D uses, rather than 2D no a 2D plane, you're welcome to try and succeed, but the sky's the limit as far as ideas are concerned...

I have a mac and need help launching the Osx sandbox. It keeps saying "The sandbox folder must exist alongside this launcher" and how i might try opening it manually which i have no idea how to do. Please help :(
