Grenades ought to make more of a mess than that.

Remember OverDose is fully shadowed, not like other games. Its quite expensive to render **** as it is... But I am adding a few more misc models to this, smaller chunks and things. I'll try and get some bits added for it.

I could never understand this weird habitual trend I noticed from some games such as those from Doom and RTCW. The player has his armor and uniform on (as usual), however once he is gibbed suddenly he is either naked or in his underwear as he is being blown to parts. Aside from that, nice job on the gib design.

PS - Would be awesome to pick up gibs and throw them at your foes just for fun, or a female version of these characters (and their gibs).

Yeah, they should just go into the "gibs" drop down menu in their engine and check the "clothes" box.

That's totally how this works.

Spoken like somebody who doesn't know what makes a game, And what makes a turd. The reason you make generic gibs is obvious; Because you can't make gibs for everything and everybody. It's too expensive and too time consuming. Is it possible? Yes. But what's the point when they will be gone soon anyway and nobody will look? As for picking them up... Why? What would that ever possibly be used for? It's not fun, it's pointless, and just makes gameplay messy.

I would not necessarily say no one will bother to look. In newer games nowadays I can almost always noticed unique gibs a mile away now. Sometimes I would spend a while looking at the design of these gibs or sometimes go on a gib hunt to discover all of the possible gibs in the game, like I did with Unreal Tournament and Serious Sam. I know its silly but its still kind of interesting.

Mind you, I know what makes a game, its just the "generic gibs" stunt seems to bore me at times. I guess ever since I started seeing different variations of gibs in newer games it made the generic gibs method feel rather boring and uninteresting.

_______

Well, any chance you plan to at least make female generic gibs (presuming there will be female characters in the game)? That would be even more interesting (and a bit more realistic too). The male generic gibs will no longer be forever alone.... lol.

My only crit is that the spine looks way too angular and perfect; it looks like it was carved out of wood.

Description

Ok well... This was far more fun to make than it should have been. Ladies and gentlemen, the gib damage model for when that 'nade goes off a little too close to somebody in OverDose.
