Oni is a third-person action game developed by Bungie West, a division of Bungie. Released in 2001, it was Bungie West's only game. It broke new ground by blending third-person shooting with hand-to-hand combat, resulting in a unique, yet familiar game for third-person shooter enthusiasts.

People who become interested in Oni (and those who can't find their disc anymore!) often wonder how to purchase the game. Oni was developed for Windows, Mac OS, and PS2.

The Windows version would be sold by Take2 or possibly Rockstar, but it is not currently offered for sale on either site, so Windows users are advised to search sites that sell games secondhand (eBay, Amazon, etc.).

As for the Mac version of Oni, if you are anywhere outside North America you can purchase the game from Feral.  North America's distribution rights are owned by MacSoft, but the product is not currently on their website.  Secondhand sites are probably your best option.

Finally, the PS2 version is the easiest to purchase: go to Take2store.com and search for "Oni".  (If you are interested in the modding being done by the community, you should buy the Windows or Mac version.  The console version is not the target of any modding efforts.)

Of course there is nothing wrong with obtaining the Mac or PS2 versions of the game secondhand, but by purchasing Oni firsthand you show Oni's rights holders your continued interest in the product.

Oni was great, though I must admit it had a fair few niggles (camera 'jam' being the main culprit). I wish there was a similar project for Future Cop.

Oni to me had one of the best combat engines ever made. You really felt in control of the fights. Too bad the multi-player got cut before its release, a good team deathmatch or coop would have made me weep tears of joy.

No, you're on to a good idea. Oni is, has been, and always will be a great game. The storyline is one of the best that has ever been utilized in a video game. At any rate, I encourage the efforts made by those who have taken part in this project. True staples in the gaming world deserve publicity and a periodic renewal of interest. (Sorry if I seem to have gone overboard, but this game holds sentimental value for me as well. I'll spare you the story.) Thank you, kind sirs and dames. lol

Picture this game for all next-gen consoles using a FPS/TPS (thirdperson) version of the Final Fantasy XIII engine!!! ...epic

I blame the Bungie/Microsoft combo. After that Bungie didnt make anything interesting anymore, just the next big Halo over and over $_$ .I loved Marathon, Myth, and Oni allot, just not Halo.

I agree. Oni would be pretty kick-ass if they'd give it a chance and re-vamp it or make a next-gen sequel.

Oni is actually a very good action game, i really enjoy playing it now.Compared to some low budget shit games made for money, Oni is worth checking out.
