Lights, use them.
Well it depends on what he's going for. If he wants a map were when a person comes out of no where and your so scared you just blow them away regardless of allegiance then he should keep it this way.
No, this map is not lit well at all, its all uniform no varation at all. Not to mention pitch black levels tend to play bad, if you constrict the player too much by forcing them to fight in a dark level you are only going to **** them off. Maybe you could get away with it in a single player game when the player would only be in such an area for a short about of time, but for something like this, no.
Not to mention good lighting adds so much to a level.
Its not done yet i WILL add lights lol :P
If your gonna present a map, try to present it well. And not a single map that has been shown has decent lighting.
I don't use lights in my maps, I simply don't care for them at these early stages, but later, lights are a MUST
Older engines tend to look like **** in dark levels. Since this is the case i suggest you brighten it up ASAP.

Maybe for psp but pff we pc users have darkplace engine possibility. that kicks the **** out of quake 1 engine. (in a good way)
Besides dynamic lighting should offer some aid if the map lighting is desinged well.
