Duke Theft Auto is based upon the classic DMA/Rockstar game, "Grand Theft Auto" Run, Shoot, Kill, Car Jack your way through many cities on your way of becoming the number one criminal! Instead of being limited to a top down view as you were in the classic game you will now be able to run and drive through the cities in a first person perspective as well as a third person.

Report article RSS Feed Duke Theft Auto ModDB Page Created, Plus News

Finally got around to getting a moddb page up. Also have posted a few images, videos and other various things.

Posted by The_Commander on Jan 25th, 2009

Please remember that Duke Theft Auto is a standalone mod being created in the Eduke32 (Richard Gobeille AKA TerminX) version of the build engine. (Ken Silverman) What this means is that you will not need to own Duke Nukem 3D to play it because it will not be using any of the Duke Nukem 3D resources.

The best ETA I can give for a public release is around June, maybe later or sooner depending on how things turn out. There is a Alpha version that is available for download, but I do not support this version any more and you need to own Duke Nukem 3D: Atomic version in order to run it. ("DUKE3D.GRP" in the same folder as the extracted .rar file) The Alpha can be downloaded from here.

Rapidshare.com

Also, these are the other links that Duke Theft Auto progress can be monitored at:

Forums.3drealms.com - 3D Realms
Dukerepository.com - DNR
Gtagaming.com - GTA Gaming

Wow! It's great to see both of these games come back to life like this. Seeing GTA in 3D is especially cool!

Brilliant work.

Also, is it just me or does the radio presenter's voice in the 3rd video sound like Gabe Newell from Valve?

You will only need your copy of DN to run the Alpha, the final version will be a completely standalone mod/download. Meaning that you only need to download Duke Theft Auto in order to play it. :D

Added to modwatch. I love the original GTA and having it in 3D is even better. What are the multiplayer plans? I wouldn't mind seeing a CTF mode just for the hell of it (with vehicles of course).

Yea, I hope they dont act that way. This one looks reeeaaaalllllyyyyy good. I dont see why there wouldnt be any problems as the game is freeware anyways.

But, best wishes to ya. Im keeping an eye on this one :P

Edit: Btw, are you adding in the rest of the islands from GTA 1 or is it just going to be this one?
