This addon replace fundamental part of original army schemes with their alternatives, which correspond to the lore much more.
Certainly, some corrections were made, because it is strictly defined, which parts of a model are painted by every category while the same models are used for different schemes. Army schemes from campaign are not affected - they should match movies from it. Besides that, the addon also change foreground schemes to most significant of all modified races.
This addon was primarily created for Dark Crusade, but will also work with Soulstorm (In this case, Sisters of Battle and Dark Eldar are not affected).
Details:
Eldar: repainted 5 key Craftworlds introduced in game, "Biel Tan" is now main instead of "Alaitoc".
Chaos: repainted all 8 legions, "Black Legion" is now main instead of "Alpha Legion".
Necrons: added 5 notable dynasties, they replace fictitious schemes, "Sautekh" is now main instead of "Jarrman Primus".
Orks: repainted 6 major clans, "Evil Sunz" is now main instead of "Bad Moons".
Space Marines: repainted 8 introduced in game schemes, added two new ("Salamanders" and "Iron Hands"), "Ultramarines" is now main instead of "Blood Angels".
Tau: repainted 4 First Phase Expansion schemes and Tau homeworld scheme, "T'au" is now main instead of "Bork'an".
Recommendation:
Use the addon with this fixed model for Space Marines, because some of their schemes have repainted eyes: Download from skins.hiveworldterra
Installation:
Extract files from archive into the main game directory.
For example: C:\Program Files (x86)\THQ\Dawn of War - [Dark Crusade/Soulstorm]
Compatibility with other addons and mods:
This addon is compatible with all other mods and addons, which do not modify basic army schemes. You still may download additional ones.
Examples:
At the last picture you can see, what forces will be suggested now firstly, when player choose a race.
FAQ:
- Q: How it will affect my own repainted army schemes?
A: It will not affect them, because your schemes are loaded with your profive, over the files, which are edited. However, if you restore them, you will see schemes from this addon.
- Q: Why did not you include Imperial Guard?
A: Imperial guard is not touched, because most notable Regiments (Excapt Cadian) do not fit in-game Guardsmen models, while this addon should represent most notable forces of included races, not minor.
- Q: Why did not you include [Name of possible scheme]?
A: This addon is primarily aimed at introducing main forces of available races. In addition, significant amount of players of Dawn of War even do not know basic lore about major forces, so do they really need minor ones? Also it is rather inconveniently to search your scheme in large lists.
- Q: Why did not you repainted other Tau schemes? They are from First Phase Expansion, so they can be main forces too.
A: Their appearance was created by the developers of a game, not by Games Workshop. It means, that they have never been introduced somewhere except Dawn of War. Check their pages in Lexicanum, for example, and you will see screens from DoW there in "Colours" cell.
- Q: Why Thousand Sons Legion is not added, while there are additions for Space Marines?
A: Thousand Sons most of all Chaos Legions do not fit in-game Chaos models. I am sure, because of this reason they were not added in original game.
- Q: What is the issue with Necrons you mentioned above?
A: Most basic colour schemes of Necrons are imagined by the developers of DoW (Though they are referred to real lore planets, where Necrons were spotted), so they can not be called lore-relevant. Instead of them, I added notable Necron dynasties.
- Q: Why did you choose Evil Sunz as main clan?
A: Official sources do not say straightforward, what clan is a leading one, however, it seems to be Goffs or Evil Sunz. I choosed Evil Sunz, because there is already exist main scheme with black colour (Black Legion).
Special gratitude to GrOrc, who allowed to include banners and badges of Salamanders and Iron Hands from his mod (Titanium Wars) in this addon.
Changelog:
[23.06.2018] Corrected Biel-Tan and Iyanden army schemes: too bright colours caused texture glitches on some models, for example, Farseer. Also corected colours of Alaitoc army scheme to make it more accurate. Updated article illustrations.
This is ******* awesome, thank you.
Thanks, I am glad you like it.
So this will add Lore-Accurate color schemes?
Yes, it replaces basic schemes)
And there is such an addition for the orcs? I so want orcs from the vanilla dawn of war...
