Originally developed by one person and using a custom made game engine, Dangerous Rays is a single player FPS game with some survival components inspired by the S.T.A.L.K.E.R* game series, where you play as a normal citizen that survived to a nuclear accident disaster. After some years in your fallout shelter you need to get out because you start to run out of food. It is time to confront the new world and discover what happened and how the whole society is now changed.

Explore the huge procedurally generated world of the available "FreeRoam" game mode to find food, water, guns and everything else you'll need in order to survive in this ruthless world. A "Story" mode is being worked on and Mxthe who is the developer of the very popular "UnderHell" source engine mod is the creative director of this single player story. This game mode will be released at the end of the year.

The game support extensive modding possibilities and a 3D world editor will be provided in September so players will be able to make their own stories for this game mode and share them with other players providing hours of bonus gameplay. Last but not least if the game is getting popular enough we might even add some coop mode at some point.
Dangerous Rays is currently in early alpha access and we need your support to be able to continue the development and make a great game.

Hello everyone, it is now time for the Dangerous Rays Alpha 15 update release !

August has been a quite busy month for us with the launch and the success of our Steam Greenlight campaign and the fact that i took one week of holidays. That's why this Alpha 15 update is not as big as expected and why we delayed some features. Anyway there still some interesting things to see.

First i have made a completely new sound engine, based on FMOD technology this new sound engine brings some very cool features like a proper support of 5.1 and 7.1 speaker systems, improved hardware compatibility, faster processing time and a lot of other various improvements. This should improve the game experience a lot in the future when more sound will be added in the game.
A new AI navigation system have been added, this system is faster and support "crowds" so NPC are able to stay in groups and avoid each other. We are planning to increase the zombies density as soon as the navigation will be cleaned up. Be aware that the system is in prototype state at the moment and you can expect some navigation bugs from time to time, especially if you are loading a saved zone. I am working on those remaining issues. Once this navigation system will be clean enough it will be used to add the first animals in the game and then some new monsters / mutants.

3 new guns have been added by Mxthe and he also changed most of gun fire and reloading sounds. Don't forget that you can use "actor_spawn" console command if you want to test guns and other items quickly. 2K9CON have made a nice list of spawnable objects and a quick tutorial to show you how to spawn objects at viewtopic.php?f=5&t=291.
Other than that you may find some various small improvements in different areas of the game and a nice batch of bug fixes.

At least two updates should be released in September because we can get back to work properly now after this crazy month. We will update our Roadmap very soon.

You should receive this update very soon in your mailbox. Have fun and thank you for your support. :)

Omega, it is an alpha. If you don't like it: Don't buy it.

I'm pleased i bought this game early as the developer really gets stuff done and hopefully knows with each dollar to come that his hard work will pay out.

I wasn't aware I had a choice thank you and I am happy you are pleased with the game I for one however will not pay for an alpha as it is essentially paying to test a game and when you pay for something it then becomes a product and I don't like spending money on something that isn't finished.

How do you want OldSnake to live if he isn't charging for an alpha?
He is a full time dev (so I am) and he needs to survive somehow.
He could have tried to find a publisher who would have advanced some cash but then the game would definitely be more expensive.

How I want him to live? I don't want to want "OldSnake" to live like anything I just do not like people charging for an unfinished buggy mess no matter how good it looks. If you paid for say windows 9 and it was not finished you would be very angry. My view here is that as soon as you start charging for something the game does not become an alpha.

I am glad you are doing your best even if that means you have to charge for a product that is not finished plus ask Dayz players if they feel they have saved money.
