Originally developed by one person and using a custom made game engine, Dangerous Rays is a single player FPS game with some survival components inspired by the S.T.A.L.K.E.R* game series, where you play as a normal citizen that survived to a nuclear accident disaster. After some years in your fallout shelter you need to get out because you start to run out of food. It is time to confront the new world and discover what happened and how the whole society is now changed.
Explore the huge procedurally generated world of the available "FreeRoam" game mode to find food, water, guns and everything else you'll need in order to survive in this ruthless world. A "Story" mode is being worked on and Mxthe who is the developer of the very popular "UnderHell" source engine mod is the creative director of this single player story.
The game support extensive modding possibilities and a 3D world editor will be provided in the future so players will be able to make their own stories for this game mode and share them with other players providing hours of bonus gameplay. Last but not least if the game is getting popular enough we might even add some coop mode at some point.
Dangerous Rays is currently in early alpha access and we need your support to be able to continue the development and make a great game.

What has been made this week ? Tools tools tools ! This is very important for modding capabilities and for me as I use those tools myself.
I have done some more refinement to the editing tool (texture viewer, texture converter, model converter...). As you may already know those tools will be shipped and integrated in the game in the alpha 18. I want Dangerous Rays modding to be accessible for everyone but of course you will need to learn some things :). Now I need to finish model and material editor.
- Zone editor:
I have started to work seriously on the zone editor. Like the name says, it is an editor for building custom zones (maps)
- Save / load system:
Save and load system was very broken in Alpha 17 version of Dangerous Rays, so I have done some more improvement inside the load/save system to make it more robust and to prevent random crashes that occurred in Alpha 17.
- Misc improvements and fixes:
A lot of minors improvements into the engine where made like usual, especially in memory management this week.
Today my thoughts go to our German friends because of this terrible attack in Munich. Not a week without a deadly attack happen now...
Keep playing video games peacefully and see you next week for another dev diary :ympeace:
