You wake up in a dark alley, not knowing anything. What has happened anyway? You struggle after the truth and answers. Answers you want to know in the darkness and fear, which makes your heartbeat race like violent blows against your head. Where do "they" come from? What has happened? Are you just turning insane? The time is up; you can't stay there reading your smses forever. It's time to head out and find the answers. Cry of Fear is a singleplayer modification of Half-Life 1 which brings you the horror you've always been afraid of. It's a total conversion of Half-Life 1, which means it uses NO Half-Life 1 content or other peoples' files. It's all made exclusively by the developers. It also uses new gaming styles that you will rarely find in Half-Life mods, such as advanced cutscenes and other stuff that will be revealed at a later date.

Welcome everyone to another overdue update for Cry of Fear. As usual, we've been working hard lately to bring you another fresh slice of horror. Today we've got a number of things to go over, so pull up a chair. Here's some music for your enjoyment while you read:

Crow - From the Cry of Fear soundtrack - By ruMpel

As many of you may be aware, Cry of Fear was nominated for the 2009 Best Upcoming Mod Editor's Choice award. This is a huge (and certainly unexpected) honour for us, so first of all we'd like to thank everyone for the support we received. Unfortunately we didn't win, but the support alone was extremely motivating. Thank you all. More information on MOTY 2009 can be found here. Once the results were in, it was mentioned on Podcast 17 by the always awesome Henley that it was a narrow contest between Naruto: Naiteki Kensei and Cry of Fear, with NNK winning for (among other reasons of course) superior PR work. We took the hint, and we're now trying our hand at "not being shit at public relations".

So what does this mean for the mod? Well, it means you get more regular updates. People seem to enjoy our videocasts, so we intend to do a lot more of them, now in eye-popping High Definition. That's right people, you can now enjoy our beautiful faces in delicious 1920x1080 resolution, perfect for making desktop wallpapers.

Another issue that's been brought to our attention is a lot of people are going on about Steam (or rather, not going on about Steam). What I mean by this is a lot of people are still using their old CD installs for playing Half-Life and its mods. This is fine and works on a lot of older modifications, but both ruMpel and myself have spent a good portion of today digging out our old HL CDs and trying to run Cry of Fear with it. We regret to inform you (as we suspected) that Cry of Fear does NOT work with the old CD version of Half-Life. I'll try what I can to rectify this, but it's highly unlikely WON will ever be supported by us (not to mention the fact that for some people, they won't use Steam because they only have pirated copies of Half-Life) Simply put, the extra workload doesn't seem worth the extra development time it'd take for people to just register their CD keys on Steam if they want to play Cry of Fear.

And last but not least - We need a competent website designer! We're looking for a talented fellow who can not only design a great-looking website, but also program the necessary components to get it all up and running too. If you think you're that guy (or gal), then please, don't hesitate to contact us! We take every application seriously, and will consider everyone and anyone who applies (assuming of course that it's a serious application)

You will need to be available to contact on either Steam or Windows Live Messenger (MSN) so that both ruMpel and myself can give you either instructions (although we prefer team members having free-reign) or critique or straight-up praise for your awesome work. A basic knowledge of either English or Swedish is fine. We'd love to hear from you!

That's all for now! See you real soon on the videocast - Minuit out

Awesome! Can't wait for the video-cast. Good luck finding a decent web-site designer, i would have applied with some secret reference. But I've sworn myself to never touch website coding again after completing my current tasks.

I can't believe people are seriously using the old version of Half-Life still. I'm willing to bet that the vast majority of them are pirates, so screw them.

I use WON Because it's much easier, doesn't require an internet connection and I'm not a fan of Steam at all but I am no pirate!

Of course, I will set aside my differences with Steaming Pile of crap to get my dose of Psychological Insanity somewhere in the streets of Sweden as mentioned before.

God bless you ****, God bless *tear*

I usually use both WON and Steam interchangeably, WoN for older mods, and Steam for all the current stuff. I also like modding WON Half-Life better then Steam, but that's just my personal preference.

Excellent news! Although aren't you afraid that if you regularly do videocasts you might show off too much of the mod's content, and some of it won't be a surprise when we get to finally play it?
