Guys you need to optimise the top better. Wouldnt it be better if you removed some edge loops from the top cylinder? Sure it would kinda break up the model but as it looks now you get a pretty uneven poly distribution.
However textured it looks great. And i bet Unreal Engine can handle alot moore than that really ;)
I agree the top is unnecessarily high. It wouldn't be hard to cut it down by half or so, but that only saves a few hundred polys. Save a few here and there will definitely optimize the game more either way.
Its not possible to tell from this image but this model is acctualy 2 large chunks. The pipe leading up is acctualy split right under the flare thats half way up. This was at the request of the LD to help accomodate for possible variations in ceiling height.
You are right however that I could optimise the top part some more and save some polys. Every bit counts! Perhaps I will dig that mesh up 2night and have a look.
