A nice quiet week this time round. The office has been relatively empty what with the majority of folks off visiting relatives and friends for the Lunar new year holidays. Just a few utterly asocial nerds (including yours truly) still plodding away at many of the less glamorous aspects of the system that need doing.
The World Mechanism has been completed from the tech side, and our resident cartographers are checking city placement and spellings in one last polishing before release. Basic country flag designs have been sent to 2D. This will find its home under “World” on the website and should really give everyone a nice feel for our world.
While they’re not exactly crucial to the main systems and actual game I do love the opportunity to dash off these side projects. There’s a solid sense of achievement in bashing out an entire item, from concept through to final (hah) debugging in one run. All big game development suffers when faced with month after month of simply pushing the vast mountain of code ahead another inch at a time, and hoping that those calling the shots have a better view of the path.
