Development ceased

The development of this project ceased. The project itself is outdated and may be incompatible with Unity 4, so it is not recommended to download or use it.

A one-level splitscreen multiplayer racing game project mostly for educational purposes, entirely based on the Unity Car Tutorial project*.

So basically what's the purpose of this project? To learn how to create:
- a simple minimap using a camera
- splitscreen multiplayer mode
- a simple main menu
- a pause menu

Credit for the minimap script (OrbitCam.js) goes to Rman (here's his game: Planet 4).
Credit for the awesome soundtrack (background music) called The Two Assassins Meet (the revamped version) goes to Garrett Lindquist.

* The first Unity project presented here was converted to the 3.0 version of Unity3D engine with some issues fixed. The second Unity project (the current one) is based on the official 3.0 version (converted by Unity Studios themselves), with new features implemented.

The logo, the background image and buttons were all made in Inkscape. The source (SVG file) of the stripe pattern and these GUI textures will be also available along with the release #3.

What error does it bring up?

Will you be able to compile/built and get it working from the source?

To do that, you'd need to download Unity, then both sources of release #3, and in "Additional source files" there's Settings folder. You should (if you decided to build it from the source) copy & paste it to Program Files where you have Unity Editor/engine installed.

And finally:
Unity Editor, then File -> Build Settings -> Build.

Thanks, but still, that scenery was created entirely by Unity Studios, so the credit for the level goes to them. ;-)

You should port this to iPod/iPhone, if it's Unity.

Hmmm, the additional upgrade of Unity to iPhone/iPod is quite expensive, unfortunately (AFAIK).

Try this: park one of the car's front ends against a wall, then let it set. If your result is anything like mine the camera should have quite a spaz.
