Blaze is a retro/minimalistic styled sci-fi first person flight/shooter action game. The game can be played almost single handedly with just mouse. It's about shooting a lot of alien things (in semi-randomized missions?). The alien things are trying capture all your base, and have already captured at least half of it. You have to defend the base and capture the alien controlled areas back. Or something like that...
Lots of aliens in the level. It's a bit long video. Too lazy to cut it shorter.
It was initially a place holder level filling the main WAD. Then it expanded into a more complete level. The different areas could be some more distance from the central area and behind doors, so player can go through them in whatever order.
The aliens' projectiles are currently the same as player's (except the red aliens). Their functionality should remain about the same, but have different graphics.
No ambient sounds yet. They need some changes in the sound code, so they have their own channels that don't get cut with action sounds. I haven't touched the sound code yet at all.
The aliens use the same sounds I used in my other project. The exact same versions were insanely loud in this Doom engine. With DarkPlaces I've needed to maximize/compress all sounds really loud for them to be audible. Now they can have quieter parts and still be audible/clear.
If you can't see the HD here... watch it on youtube: Youtube.com
Seems it's pretty blurry there too... :D
