Unlocking American McGee's Alice HD from The Complete Collection file - Alice: Madness Returns

Disclaimer: This mod exists because since 2016 the copyright holder has not provided the opportunity to legally buy the game in digital distribution services, either as part of The Complete Collection or as an independent game.

1. If you have never run Alice: Madness Returns before, run it so that it creates the necessary parameter files, and close the game.
2. Download the provided zip archive and unpack the Alice1 folder from the archive into the Steam/steamapps/common folder, next to the installed Alice: Madness Returns (next to it, not in the folder with Madness Returns)
3. In the address bar of Explorer, paste this path %UserProfile%\Documents\My Games\Alice Madness Returns\AliceGame\Config\AliceEngine.ini and press Enter
In the file that opens in Notepad, click Edit - Search, type GIsSpecialPCEdition and press Enter. Change the value of the found parameter from FALSE to TRUE - you should get the line GIsSpecialPCEdition=TRUE. Then click File - Save.

Ready! Now in the main menu of Alice: Madness Returns there will be an item that allows you to launch the remaster of the first part.

If you don't like the HD textures of the remaster and want a more authentic experience, you can disable them by deleting the pak5_mod.pk3 file from the Alice1\bin\base folder. At the same time, support for a wide screen and gamepads will remain in the game.
