Is there a reason why trying to launch the demo launches Steam instead?
That's not good! :( I think there is something wrong with the launch settings.. I already contacted Desura support. Meanwhile, if you launch the executable from the desura folder (c:\program files\desura\common\a-pixel-escape) it should work.
It should work now (Kudos to Desura support team! :) ) You may need to uninstall/reinstall the game though
