The base engine, is a custom engine made by Damizean/The Blitzsonic Team. The Genesis Redux project is an adaptation of this project. Sonickidnextgen/Sonickidnextgenesis has been "casually" working on this project since February of 2011. The Next Genesis Engine was another adaptation by Sonickidnextgenesis, but it was canceled in October of 2010. The Next Genesis Engine, and the Genesis Redux project are both non-profit projects. Sonic the Hedgehog is owned by SEGA, and Sonic Team. If you'd like to contact the creator(s) of the Next Genesis engine, or the Genesis Redux engine, please email: GenesisReduxproject@yahoo.com or SKIVortex@rocketmail.com Please note that this is currently a one man job, so if you'd like to help in any way possible, please contact the creator.

Here it is, after more than a year of development overall, and several months of development since the last update, I finally got around to finishing the initial version. Please keep in mind that this is by no means the last version, I'll be updating this from time to time. These updates could range from bug fixes, to new objects. You can download version 1.0.0 of the project here: Moddb.com
If you have any problems with the first link, here's mirror of the file: Sonickid.org
For those who are interested; I've started a forum here on ModDB. If anyone has any issues with the game/engine, or if anyone would like to post their own modifications of the project, you can do so there.
There's also a wiki I started a little while ago. The wiki has pages dedicated to creating custom characters, setting up dedicated servers, and creating custom stages. So if you're interested in doing things of that nature, click here: Sonickid.org
Other than that, I've uploaded a video of version 1.0.0 on Youtube:

Here's the full version of 1.0.1, hopefully this will help with some of the problems people have been having. The things I've changed are as follows...

I like this game. Very nice, especially since I'm a fan of Sonic games. However, the issue I have is that, where is the option to adjust the Mouse Sensitivity?
-Thanks, DarknessDudeTOB :D
Sup DD!
It's me LegoGuy24 from TOB!
The controls menu is for quick changes to your controls, so you won't find it there. You should be able to find it in the "Mouse-Keyboard-Config.xml" file, which is in your "Configuration" folder. I had it insanely high because of a few things I was testing, so the mouse speed is 1000. But there's also "mouse_sensitivity", if you're interested in messing with the settings. I honestly didn't look too much into the input system for the original engine, so there's not a whole lot I can tell you about that.
im only going by what i saw in the video and this looks good so far but if you want to have muiltplayer i would suggest a lobby map like say... sonic's house (i dont know if he ever had one in the storylines but hey)
There's a board on the forum for suggestions, so next time, go there. Anyway, the lobby idea was something I was considering, but at the same time, the project currently can already have lobbies. There's no specific feature, you just need to create a map that acts as a lobby. And I may look into adding features for this kind of thing later down the road. Right now I'm looking into porting the engine to Blitz Max. (And by looking into porting it, I mean; A bit of the port is already done)
any idea when this project would be fully done? if i have a good computer by then i would probably made a video on this :)
Boooring...
Wow, what an informative review!
do you add some enemy AI?
The current date is set to TBD(To be decided), but I'm hoping to have the engine out by the end of the year. The project as a game however, has no planned dates as of now. This is due to this generally being a one man job.
I have a few people who have contacted me, but their roles don't need to be filled as of yet.
