Description
Freelancer GLS Workaround is a script created by w0dk4 that allows you to connect to an alternative Global Server Address when the main Global Server is down. The files contained in this mod can safley be copied into any FL Folder, allowing for total integration of the Workaround.

So this script will let you connect to an alternative master server? Or just connect to the master server in a different way?
I'm a little confused as to what this does :)
it's quite simple: it will confuse u.
there is no alternative master server. and microsoft's master server is offline, for good.
tool's description is quite limited in its purpose.
this script gets the serverlist from
Stats.freelancerserver.de
and is the biggest list of remaining online flservers available
you can add your own server ip with the automated website script at the homepage above
there are currently efforts to obtain the master server DNS and to emulate the master server, so there might be a chance of the global server coming back
check www.fllistserver.com or www.lancersreactor.com for any updates on that
couldn't u simply make one simple download, instead of multiplying it...?
i think players would appreciate that. not that i care, since i don't need it - every good mod should have connection to its server built in, and i do use a mod alike. but, for the sake of others...

i can't wait to see what will happen when monopoling and centralised tlr takes over the gls list:
1. certain servers getting more attention,
2. others just being deleted from the list because of 'lack of faith',
3. endless flaming against communities and ppl,
4. the history repeats itself, we've all seen it before, just give them power.

Hows it goin? I downloaded the file, do i just copy it into the freelancer folder and that's all or is there a specified folder i need to put it in?
Try opening it with WinRAR. Alternativly, install FLMM and open it with that. Opening it with a Zipping program will allow you to copy the contents into Freelancer's Folder.
goodone, I simply felt that you had clogged the FL Downloads section with all the tools. Not that I don't appreciate them, I just feel that the only thing so called 'casual' players have access to is your 'SWAT-Portal List' which is, again, Advertising. You're about as subtle as a Brick.

I'm not redirecting people away from the modDB site to my own thing. This is a standalone piece of software that allows people to connect to the GLS. What you did was send people over to SWAT-Portal and flood the main ModDB page with Tools which few people use.

Moddb is for advertising and presenting stuff... thats the real purpose of this site and its what ppl do
to tell ppl to visit one of the big FL community (and SWAT is the 2nd largest FL community meanwhile) is nothing wrong... especially since Moddb cant cover the stuff that real FL communities do
and to use that tool we use is also not wrong since its used for way longer and more often than this GLS workaround here
to go to other mod pages and blaming them for doing advertisement is somewhat lame... especially since those ppl which claim such a crap do exactly the same here

It's not that. It's simply the way that goodone was verging on decieving' people into visiting SWAT-Portal. I have no objection to it being advertised, is just object to him going onto other mod pages, such as FLWT and say, come and play crossfire, etc.
It annoys me.
the SWAT Portal is not only about Crossfire
CF is just one of the many parts of the Portal
SWAT is one of the biggest FL communities out there supporting many mods inside the portal and helping modding projects outside the portal
Basically we offer everything (and more) that TLR was able to offer until their problems started half a year ago
If you consider it bad that ppl spread the word about a place that helps mod creators then ok... others for sure think different
What it does is contact a server that has IPs and statistics for all servers that are entered into the site's database and then displays them in Freelancer. So actually Goodone its not that limited.

You're not getting my point. I feel that the way that you have 'hogged' the moddb FL front page is wrong. I'm afraid my feelings towards you are less than cordial, and any initial respect I had for you diminished. I don't see how being 16 affects my place in this argument/debate/ fight. To be frank, I don't see why you had to bring it up.

it is not my obligation to deal with the way mod db postings work. i posted stuff ppl basically need, especially modders, just because of personal enthusiasm and free time for uploading them, and u blame me for having fslw disappear from mod db fl front page because of that. u even probably think i did it on purpose, just to get fslw away, which would b just another idiotic conclusion.
this is mod db, a place for mods and tools for modders! if u think that fslw is more important than any other tool, ask for rights on the original postings from w0tk4 and edit it frequently to keep it on the top. but 1st u could take a look at the numbers of dls for things i posted, instead of doing against the rules and posting stuff twice, just to show how much malice u possess. only my decency kept me from having it reported directly to the mod db staff.

It's the fact that the same image was used, little effort went into the description, and the fact that they all appeared within hours of each other.
