The purpose of GreenDuck is to cause players to lose their ship when they die, and respawn in a basic patriot. It helps add real loss to Freelancer.
GreenDuck milestone 1 is a massive improvement. It now remembers the credits the player had and where the player last docked. That means that you won't automatically respawn in the starter system and you will get to keep your cash!
GreenDuck is very stable and only consumes about 10% of my CPU while running (I can play freelancer on the server side with it running, so it works).
GreenDuck is currently available for the "Our Local Group" mod and will be bundled with the next release (Alpha 4).
why do you always choose "new server" instead of respawn?
some problem with storing the data using the respawn button?
Freelancer does not save the changes when you die, it saves them when you respawn or leave the server. Unfortunately, if you simply respawn, you will not see your "death effect" until you log off, and then you lose all the progress you made since you died.
By simply leaving the server, it allows GreenDuck to update it before you reload the character, and the death effect is immediate.
If freelancer did not apply the file changes until you hit one of those buttons, that would not be a problem.
