3089 is a futuristic, procedurally generated, open-world action role-playing game. All terrain, enemies, weapons, items, quests & more are uniquely generated. You are a promising robotic android design, made by the Overlord, placed on planet Xax. Your performance in common combat, support & intel scenarios is being closely watched. However, will you become too much for them to handle? What else on planet Xax exists that the Overlord doesn’t know about?

Hey, I'm in dire need of credits. I've died repeatedly and don't have any money or weapons - and I need weapon(s) to do quests to get money to advance myself. Is there any way to earn credits other than doing quests? I literally have 182 or so credits and no weapons. I'm not screwed, am I?

You are not screwed! Bust open crates for free loot which you can sell. You can open them up just by interacting with them up-close. You can also try stealing from friendly guys to get loot.

I was late by 5 minutes... I was going to suggest opening the crates and stealing, but also two more ways. First, you still get credits for each completed step from quest. If steps are "Get DCube from X" or something equally trival, you can do it without weapons. Some quests are more difficult, like bug planting or spying, but in most cases, they also don't require using weapons. Second, you can use your programming skills to re-program blank chips. But with last update I'm not finding any blank chips at Chip Station, and also you need high enough Programming skill to be effective.

Thanks for the replies guys! Sadly, I already created a new character though.

I'll keep these tips in mind!

Another surprising tactic I've hit on to get money: roads. There are always lots of enemies on them, and a few friendlies fighting them, not to mention a heap of crates. If you pick up a hoverboard (chances of a good one are slim I know, but if you haven't got much gear then a lvl 1 might be enough), use it to go out around the road in a wide circle until you're a moderate distance away from your base, and then jump on the road and head back towards home. You can take on a few enemies if your'e up to it, or just whiz past them - either way, anyone you don't kill will follow you back to your base... and right into your allies (I'm assuming you're not very far from the spawn location). You don't need to have the reds following you, they'll still defend themselves, leaving you to pick off the nearly-dead enemies to make sure you get drops. Once the road is clear, go and loot all the crates and you should have enough for a decent weapon and some armour too :D

Remember though, gear doesn't get you very far without the skills to back it up. A high (30+, you have a fair bit of mission farming ahead of you though so it's not hard to get :P) guns skill will make even the worst pistol a viable weapon, and an actaully good weapon will become a terrifying prospect for the blue team. Same for melee, although the tactics are quite different... my advice is to focus on one aspect at a time, do a "sniper build" and then a "mid range" build, then a "melee build" etc. and figure out which works best for you - you'll find that if you focus on one thing to improve on at a time, money isn't such a issue

To the opening post: I've found myself in a similar situation multiple times on the same character - you only need to die 5 times for all your weapons to break (if you have 5). What I know now that I wish I knew before: with a level 1 construction tool and a few parts, you can make storage chests. Drop the weapons you no longer need in the chest, so that the next time you're screwed you can go back to the chest.
