xFire Thread

Has anyone used this? I'm going to download it after I post this topic. Here's the description of it from the website:

Sounds like a workable version of steam.

Yeah.. but whats the use of keeping chat programs open? I mean, they use up memory and slow the game/connection down half the time. You'd be amazed at how much they slowed my system down.. heh.

Actually, it doesn't interfere with your game (If you tell it not to play a sound).

I got it too. I'm 'Wordsworth'. xFire only uses 1.1mb of ram on my PC, which is nothing, so I'll keep it. The only game I really play is UT2k4, I don't have anything else since this isn't my PC.

Actually, Xfire has changed quite a bit since you posted. You guys were quite on top of things as, at that time, we had just launched Xfire. :-)
Xfire was designed to be completely non intrusive to gamers, while they game.
Contrary to IM's, Xfire doesn t crash your games when u receive a msg for instance. It also uses very little resources when running.
Likewise, the peer to peer download system stops when you re playing.

Rofl, I only used it when steam first came out, and there pm system was all jacked up...

I guess it s time to give Xfire another try! :-)

What's the advantage of x-fire over irc and just telling people what you're doing, like they give a shit anyway.

I made a new name on xfire, hit me up at "cstrike180"...

because you dont have to tell anyone what your doing, they can sign on to xfire, and know what your doing...
