Ive just finsihed an amazing session playing the FarCry single player demo and the one thought that kept crossing through my mind was... WATCH THE TREES! THE PREDATOR IS UP IN THERE! Of course FarCry doesn't have the Predator (from the Arnold Shwarzenneggar and Danny Glover Movies) but think of the possiblities. FarCry has, by far, the MOST ADVANCED JUNGLE TERRAIN ever seen in a game, the water effects are, by far, AMAZING. I beilive it would a relitivly simple job of apply the water effects to a cloaking system for the predator, which is the trademark of the Predator weapons. I am just awed at the potential this game shows at being converted into a Predator vs. Marines or even Preadator vs. Aliens. It might even be possible to borrow some elements from the Aliens vs. Predator 2 games and import them into FarCry. I belive this is an oppourtunity too good to pass up. I have little modding experiance, but if some people would be interested in helping me put a project like this together I would be grateful. -- Faze_Starlighter "Conan, tell me what is good in life?" I kept thinking of Predator when it came to Farcry. The jungle just literally screams Predator but since's its owned by fox.... |

I dont think your going to run into licensing problems.. unless you directly life the code from AVP2, which I doubt is possible.. and since I wont make money from this I dont think licensing matters.. but I could be wrong. Aliens and Predator projects get foxed all the time, from as old as 1997 with Aliens Quake to Predator Quake2 and such. -- < insert subject games here >

So What are you saying? Dont do it 'cuase its been done before? Listen here buddy, if I can get some serious help on this project this mod would not be "foxed". I am serious about doing things and dont put ideas out for the hell of it... "foxed" was a term made after the whole Aliens-quake thing because 20th Century Fox sued them over intellectual property issues. Fox being agressive about this, hence the term "Foxed". -- < insert subject games here >

So what is the difference between drawing a picture with the predator in it and then publishing the picture on the interenet and creating a mod with the predator in it and publishing it on the internet? I really dont care about that issue right now. The Purpose of this thread was to attract attention and help that can be used in the production of an awesome mod. CheapAlert, Thanks for your insight into the legality of making a user created, hopefully totally UNIQUE mod but, without offence, I did not start this thread to discuss the albility of some Multi-Billion Dollar Scum-Sucking Dirtbag Rightwing Conservitive Weyland-Yutani-esque information horting institions ability to sue me. Please shut your ass about this topic. This is the third time I have asked you to stop bringing this up. If they try and sue me, I say let them find me to deliver the papers... My Email isnt real.. neither is most of the other information. try a spy kinda thing so if you get seen ur mission is compromised and you have to restart.. and your guns include ala 007 theres a easy to code idea that i think would completly change the game! |

Yeah i've kinda made a HL mod like that, i've showed it to chis once. It's basically a map of a few corridors and crates to hide from, and you must shoot all the scientists before they even see you or even KNOW your presence...or they'll launch the nuke.
