Hey people,

Survivor:Eye of the storm is a full game project that has been started to give the people that work on it a strong portfolio, our interest is not on a commercial release and instead my aim is to help others and myself to get a portfolio built to apply for jobs. Saying that does not mean that if I get a job tomorrow the project will die, far from it, I will be continuing this project through to the end even if I have to do it all myself.

So about the project...

Survivor is a single player 1st person action survival game. Set during a natural disaster that is tearing the city apart, The player takes the role of a police officer that is working his daily beat when a hurricane much like hurricane katrina hits the city. The player then begins a story that takes him from evacuating the civilians nearest to the hurricane path, to fighting for his life in an attempt to reach his family.

Planned features:

NPC Trust system:
During the game the player will recruit NPC characters to join them and to do the player must gain thier trust. Doing so can take the form of completeing a mission for them, Saving thier lives or just winning them over in a conversation.

NPC Emotion system :
working along side the trust system the emotion level of the NPC will determine how willing they are to help you. and even if they do follow you they may not respond to your requests through fear or anger.

Localized damage:
The players health is split into 6 damage zones (head, torso, L&R arms and L&R legs) losing health in specific damage zones have different adverse effects.

Good vs Evil gameplay:
Along the lines of Fable/Infamous/Prototype where depending on the actions of the player other characters react different to you and certain tasks missions will dis/appear dependant on alignment.

Extreme weather effects:
Earthquakes, Hurricanes and maybe even a Tsunami. in survivor the world is out to kill you aswell as some crazies in the city. we are planning realtime destruction around the player as well as scripted events that will truly make the world look like a scary place.

The design document is at a stage where potential team members can look through and see exactly whats going on it just needs some polish and concept art created.

About the team.
Our team right now is small but we are still doing pre production. we consist of...

  • 3 3D artists. <--- Myself included.
  • 2 coders.
  • 2 concept artists. <--- Myself included.
  • 2 level designers. <--- Myself included.
  • 1 tech artist.

What we're looking for.
As I said above this project is aimed at getting people in jobs as fast as we can and as many as we can, but right now we are just setting things up such as pipelines between team members and limitations of what can and cant be done. Until production starts (SOON) we are looking for core team members that will create thetemplates that others can work from even if you are not around to the end of the project.

Areas that we need people are:

Concept art - Environment.
Were looking for people who want to create the visual style of the game from the landscape gardens of a city park and the total destruction of a fallen sky scraper. environment concepts must be able to communicate thier ideas completely throughthier art and in conversation they will be working closely between the level designers and the 3d artists so must be fluent in english (atleast in writing)

Concept art - Characters.
You will be creating enemies the NPC's the player. you will need a good knowledge of anatomy. basic knowledge of3ds max would be benificial for when a character artist is asking you about your designs.

Riggers and Animators -
Working with the UDK skeleton and Customs. We are looking for people who are willing to spend the time building generic rigs for different sized and shaped characters. the main character will use the unreal skeleton so the rigs being built will be for NPC's.

What we expect from you:
All we ask from you is to be good at what you do and willing to take some time to lay the foundations for others to join you. We will talk about how much time you can do stuff per week if you decide you would like to take part.

Oh we also require that you are contactable via skype and are willing to make rugular updates of your progress either via skype or the forum set up on the games moddb forum.
