Here are two game suggestions for modDB. Hope there's enough info for the admins: EDIT: I added Ground Control II. Aren't I a busy beaver? ;P -- Arcanum Basic Game Information Creators / Publishers Behind Arcanum Game Developer: Troika Games Arcanum Description: Imagine a place of wonder, where magic and technology hold equal sway, and an adventurer might just as easily wield a flintlock pistol as a flaming sword. A place where great industrial cities house castle keeps and factories, home to Dwarves, Humans, Orcs and Elves alike. A place of ancient runes and steamworks, of magic and machines, of sorcery and science. Arcanum is the first game to come from the development house Troika Games, LLC, started by former Fallout team members Tim Cain, Leonard Boyarsky, and Jason Anderson. This team takes the depth of gameplay and world-building in role-playing games to entirely new levels of realism and excitement. Arcanum creates a compelling new world where magic and technology coexist in an uneasy balance. As Arcanum opens, the mechanical age has only recently arrived in this ancient land where Humans, Elves, Dwarves, Orcs and other races have learned to survive in the new sprawling industrialized cities. But this radical shift from magic to technology has created a potentially explosive situation. As the townspeople and other thinkers begin mass production of light bulbs, batteries, eyeglasses and guns, the Mages grow leery. This tightly wound setting is the starting point from which the character must set out on his quest. Game Icon Arcanum Box Shot Arcanum In-Game Image 1 Arcanum In-Game Image 2 -- Fallout 2 Basic Game Information Creators / Publishers Behind Fallout 2 Game Developer: Black Isle Studios Fallout 2 Description: Fallout is a computer role-playing game produced by Tim Cain and published by Interplay in 1997. The game is an unofficial sequel to Wasteland, but it could not use that title as Electronic Arts held the rights to it. There were two role-playing titles in the series, one squad-based tactical combat spinoff, and one console shooter: Fallout and Fallout II, both RPGs, and Fallout Tactics, and Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel, respectively. Fallout 3 (codenamed Van Buren) was in production in 2003, but was cancelled by Interplay despite being nearly complete. The Fallout franchise was acquired by Bethesda Softworks in 2004, and a new Fallout 3 project is currently in development. The background story of Fallout involves a 'what-if' scenario where the United States tries to devise fusion power resulting in a hegemonic United States that has less reliance on petroleum. However, this is not achieved until 2077, shortly after an oil drilling conflict off the Pacific Coast pits the United States against China. It ends with a nuclear exchange resulting in the post-apocalyptic world the game takes place in. The protagonist of the first game is a descendant of those that managed to find solace in government contracted fallout shelters known as the Vaults. The year the game takes place is 2161, somewhere in Northern California in Vault 13. In it, the Vault's Water Chip, which controls the water recycling and pumping machinery for the vault, has malfunctioned. This results in the player character being selected to leave the vault with minimal supplies, a handgun and a small amount of ammunition to find a new water chip. Eventually, the main character learns of a graver threat to not only his vault, but the rest of civilization. The second game takes place 80 years after the first. It tells the story of the original hero's descendant and his or her quest to save their primitive tribe from starvation by finding an ancient environmental restoration machine known as the Garden of Eden Creation Kit. The explosively fast game play focusing on combat tactics with full use of the 3D battlefield, with weather and other environmental effects affecting the unit's performance on the battleground. In the war torn year of 2741, Captain Jacob Angelus of the Northern Star Alliance (NSA) becomes the central figure in the fight against the warmongering Terran Empire. In an attempt to crush the NSA permanently, the Terran Empire sends in an alien race of powerful warriors - the Virons. It soon becomes apparent that the situation is bleak for the NSA and that their only hope is to embark on an Exodus to another part of the galaxy. Jacob Angelus must find a way to let his people survive. both are the same, the full name is fallout tactics: brotherhood of steel -- |

No, they're both quite different, I'm afraid, but with similar names. Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel was released on console only, and fans generally disliked it, nicknaming it POS instead of BOS. It was developed in the same was as Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance. Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel, on the other hand, was released quite some time before BOS, and had a game mechanic similar to X-COM or any other number of isometric tactical games. Moddb also hasn't added Soldner: Secret Wars, so that's something else they should consider throwing into the database... -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |

Thanks Forsteh; Its great to see that there are still some people around who are willing to put in some effort to help modDB, rather than simply crying out "add this, do this" etc. -- modDB▪GuyTypeThing |

Oh dear. I fuggered up the Ground Control II description and game style; its the same one as the Arcanum one. Mustn't of updated properly when I left this afternoon. Its updated now.
Arcanum has third party tools, Fallout 2 has an official map editor and third-party modding utilities, and Ground Control II has a lite SDK and full map editor out with a full SDK coming out later in the year. - Edited By frosty_theaussie On Sat 7th, Aug 2004 @ 4:57:08am --
