I'm in the process of designing a game that has a play time of roughly 4 hours, my main role in making that game is programming, bit of 3D modelling and putting the game together. My question is what is the average time it takes to create a textured character model with basic animation? when working on two previous project, once it took a month, and the other time it took 48 hours straight. I want to get a good idea so I can balance the playtime of the game with the length of development. The quality of the models that I have in mind at the moment is something like Team Fortress 2. |

The animation will take way longer than the model itself, you can generate static high quality models with Make Human in blender. However, getting a good skeleton and setting up natural looking motions will take longer. -- All posts are phase shifted and routed through the main deflector dish for quality assurance purposes. |
