...Does anyone out there have it? I was wanting to test it out but want to have some other peoples' opinions before I go out to buy it. How are the graphix, gameplay and other elements?

i was part of the stress test and all i can say is that the game blows. the fighting is really retarded. theres two ppl rolling dice (metaphorically) and whoever gets the higher number gets to attack. I had expected soemthing different like pressing my mouse button to attack. I just do not like this style of fighting. The graphics aren't really that special. The moves the player uses look really cool.

Story is that after what Neo did in matrix 3 theres a war now between the Exiles, the Humans, and the Machines. And you, the player is a redpill, as you lvl up in the game and do missions, you will get offers to work for either the Merovingian, the Machines or for Zion.

The game didn't hold my attention after the first ten or so missions, which took me a total of around 2 hours, and their pattern had already become repetitious, the fighting was hollow, the graphics were undeveloped and bland in color, and much of the details to the game were rather unworthwhile, plus character creation was quite the let down.

Realistically I had little thought of what the game would be, and those are often the games that are there to surprise us, but, this lacks any definite gameplay, nothing to mark it out, and little that draws attention, which doesn't bode well for such repetition and mundane monotony.

Suggestion for MMO's :

Try Ultima Online or Ragnarok Online, both are great ways to kill t ime that do not require mass absorption, fun with a few friends. And, if someone give syou a chance to play CoH, do it as much as possible, you'll love it for a bit, though I wouldn't buy it personally.

whats CoH? I hated RO its so bad.....

Ok, guess I wont go out and buy this then. What kind of weapons do you use tho? Is it mostly hand-to-hand or are there guns/swords?

theres hand to hand, which most ppl use, and there are different guns you can use like revolvers, shotties, rifles etc. swords i havent seen, but they might be in the game i dont know.

hand to hand has its own skill tree, and so do guns. as with every rpg, new skills boost your character.

i knew the matrix online would suck as soon as it was announced, it came around at the same time as they went into that mass amrketing of "you must play this game, watch this mvoie and then play our newer game to find out the whole story"

Yea movie games almost always suck. Exept for Chronicals of Riddick escape from butcher bay, the production value on that game was off the charts. Vin working on the game also helped.

What about Lego Star Wars, I read from the Gamespy Newsletter (I think it was this) that the game was really good and that it suprised most of the gamers that played it. They had a lotta fun with it. I played the demo, its hilarious and fun to play, but I wouldn't buy it.

i think im just going to wait for Middle Earth Online....Thought it is a movie game I think they are going to hit the spotwith this one. I mean how can you go wrong with an mmorpg that uses the HAVOK physics engine???? Thats got to be great amounts of pure fun! Also the previews and pics of it look incredible. I will make a thread about it if I ever get it.

MMORPG's are just not my type of game. Every MMORPG I played sucked. I just find them boring. The only good one was Diablo 2 but I dont think that classifies as an MMORPG

I did stop CS for like a week until my friend got me addicted, now I can't stop playing CS. It's a good game.

Not all MMORPG's are dicerollers. RYL isn't.

Actually I have it and Im having the time of my life. Those who played it during the stress test had the misconception that they played the release version. WRONG! The stress test was part of the BETA, not the release. Alot of issues have been worked out, and the storyline that you saw was a PREVIEW of what MIGHT come, not what will come. The game is rated A+ in my book, and it's 10x more flexible than most of the MMOs out there. Also, it's gotten great reviews so far from GameSpy and many other sites.

One of the major reasons i didn't like it was that the fighting style the game had didn't suit me at all.

Meh, game reviews don't really make a big part in my decision to buy a game or not, but I do read them if I might buy a certain game.

forget reviews... they are as accurate as a sawed of shootie >_<. if you find reviews by people which are not main-streamer they can be good but all those reviews of the big gaming sites/magazines are most times turned towards hypa-hypa instead of a true watch of the game.... for reason: make a hyper review and people are eager to see more... bring screenshots and bad interviews of stuff you know already since ages to raise the sales... reviews are a business, not accurate.

Every mmorpg is a diceroller - you need to have some random calculations in a game, don't you? :) Otherwise it would be an interactive movie :P

ok... what you mean here is that not your skills do count but luck (due to random values). this in fact is true and the big disadvantage of MMORPGS turning off pro players as every bad player with a lv100 can kill you as lv5 just because he spends 24h a day levelling.

To note, proplayers are the ones with the lvl100's, or else they shrug and bear it since they have a guild they are leveling to raid with. Just because you have skills in one game does not mean you have them in another, RPGs sort of epitomize this concept.

As well, RPGs are basically designed to be dicerollers, increase your chances and decrease the chances of enemies by increasing statistics, outfitting yourself better, and knowing your spells and abilities, it is all about the pregame, or the slower game. Plus, many current FPS games feature a bit of dicerolling, the randomized pattern of bullet spray, how much exact damage is done based on where, and if you don't want to except that, which it is true in say CS, dealing an extra 1 damage could kill many more people, it sort of equates to our own worldly luck of the draw, you're not always going to get a one hit kill on a person, even through the head, nor are you always going to hit, and you may just have to sneeze and alert them to your pressence.

wrong... with skilled proplayers i do not refer to head-shotters alone. especially tactical play is important (play which has in the first line to do with YOUR mental skills not equipment or dice rolls).

and those lv100 are to a large degree 24h low-skill players that just waste their time into playing the game as a real proplayer would need a fraction of the time, but he's pissed by the system where not his skills count but level-dependent skills/equipment/stats.

this is the reason i do not like mmorpg. i can play them, and i could also be good but i hate wasting time for doing stupid levelling to BECOME good although you are it already (or not). either you can play or not. i like proplayer games where your real skills count as they are much more fun and challanging.

Can we please get back on topic?

Apr 1 2005 Anchor

Well, my point was just that I would not recommend MxO. And lots of will disagree with me like RogueAgent, and he can tell us why he thinks its good and Blinks can decide whether he wants to buy the game, it is after all his decision.

Ok, my points on why it's good are...
1: Evolving Storyline- No other MMO has one to date like this one, contantly changing to the majority of the players actions.
2: Opt-in/opt-out PVP- Unlike WoW, you never have to worry about being blindsighted by some player 20 levels higher than you because you are the one wo controls if you fight in PvP combat.
3: PvP depth- Instead of it being one race vs another, it's three organizations battling it out for control. You can change organizations whenever you want(by doing missions for them and raising your reputation points higher than the other O's). There's also the /duel system. You can duel one other player one-two-one or you can have it be team-vs-team and cause some serious ass-kicking.
4: Skill System- You are never stuck with a particular skill or class, tired of being a spy? Load up hacker or coder.
5: Interlock- It has a bit of bugs to work out, but when you fight ppl in interlock(close combat), they actually move like an actual fight.
6: Constant Content Updates- Unlike WoW which got it's first content update 3 months after release, MxO got it's first 2 weeks after the release, and more is in planning.
7: No Weekly Server Downage- Due to a great system in the game engine, any areas that need to be updated can be done without shutting the servers down. The area is just temporarily closed down.
8: The Matrix Storyline- It's got Morpheus, Niobe, the Oracle, Sati, Seraph, the Merovingian, and many others as LIVE players in the game! That's correct, not NPC's, a LIVE team that plays the characters to help the story progress.

It's still got it's bugs to work out(as do every game out there), but it's in much better shape and has alot more potential than most MMO's out there. In my opinion at least.
