We have quite a dilema, we have no real engine anymore. We originally planned for the farcry engine, but the sdk is not out, so we are convinced to used the hl2 engine. What do you think? Plus if we are going to make this move we are going to need team members! Especially programmers, mappers and modellers. But i am not forcing you to do anything, but please consider joining and help us out.

I'd too say you should stick to the farcry engine for now!

And what policy would that be? I wouldn't agree with someone who runs a mod based on a Blizzard franchise. If it means putting a disclaimer on your site's front page, then that won't do a damn miracle.

Also i'm sick of all these zelda/anime/whatever mods that offer nothing more than a zelda theme and no actual gameplay that would be interesting.

Trif.flagrun.net

How ironic, there is NOTHING about the mod, it's just done because they just like zelda, rather than having real plans. :|

if that was a remark to me and my mod then you better do some research before yapping.

i agree there, but there are some mods that have a taken a theme and offer alot more then just the theme.

i have noticed that the same modders have made zelda mod, sonic mod, dbz mod, lotr mod and never finish and never offers anything special.

Remember the closing of Freecraft? That was because the gameplay is far too similar to Warcraft 2. It proves Blizzard is the SCO of computer gaming, you can't really deny they'll C&D you. Freecraft had alternate monsters too, i mean Fawn instead of a Peon. If Blizzard is imitated in any way, such as gfx or gaemplay, they'll get pissed.

I like how they keep the zelda-mod homepage updated.

Far Cry would not be a very optimised engine for this sort of affair...

HL2, yes. STALKER, no. Far Cry, no. UT2K4, no. I'm not a HL2 fanboy, and I don't go around always pimping the engine to modders, but in this case and with what you are trying to achieve, I feel that HL2 would provide the most easily accessible tools and options for you.

Use the Torque Engine! :)

It only costs $100 dollars for the entire engine (source code & all)

Check it out (not bad for 100 bucks): Torque Game Engine
