Hi All,

I have noticed that my summary page seems to be displaying all its information in a collapsed window, only showing a brief one line explanation and with a link that says 'Read More...'

I have a news article that appears below the main collapsed summary, but ideally, this is not what I want new visitors to see. I would much rather they see the games screenshots and video in the summary without having to click "read more" as this is place I send people to first when they ask about the game (it is also the first link for people to check out on social media).

I'm sure this is something I've done wrong in the settings, but been banging my head against it for a while now and can't work it out - if anyone can give me any guidance I would be most grateful.

Summary is: Indiedb.com

Many Regards and thanks in advance

Lupus.

The Read more... collapsing window is only in place for the awards, profiles will return to normal once the awards are over.

Oh good, I thought it some strange new permanent change. Glad to hear that it'll get back to it's normal size once the awards are over

Guys - please - do not make this a permanent feature or at least please make it 'Optional'.

IndieDB has always featured as my games No1 goto place when pointing new people to my game - EVEN more so now as I start to ramp up my social media activity. It looks good, its well laid out on a respected website and at a glance the viewer can get a good feel what my game is about without having to do anything except follow a link (and it also helps improve my IndieDB rankings).

The summay page is just that - a summary page. In a glance, a games glory is fed into the viewers eyes with no effort.

At the moment the summary page is a 'latest article page' with a summary IF they manage to see the 'read more' button and press it. A lot of people I send to my page will not have been to indieDB before so wont be looking for that button. Even if they do see it, people are lazy and if it says 'summary' at the top of the page, then that's what they expect to see without digging. Another button press is a barrier to entry that does not need to be there.

To ape the functionality that the page used to have, I would have to recreate the page on my own games website (a two minute job as I have the html) so visitors have the instant information about the game i want them to see, and then 'hope' that they see the IndieDB link and click it. This I feel, would be a disaster. I'd much rather they come to IndieDB first, see the summary page and then 'hope' they see the link to my site.

I'm not bothered if they don't visit my site. Visiting my site wont help my IndieDB rankings. If I have to send them to my site first, asking them to visit IndieDB for the same content is going to be a hard sell.

I want people who are new to my game to see it at a glance. Please - dump the read more button.

Thanks for reading (if you got this far ;) )

Great feedback, I agree it should be on by default but, the developer should be able to turn the feature off as required.

Hey lupus, I can see the challenge you are facing. You have made a beautiful profile page and we have added a read more button. Challenge is balancing consistency, with good pages that use the feature correctly. I will see if we can add an option so you can turn it off as we appreciate you utilizing indiedb to showcase your work and want to serve our developers the best we can!

Scott mate - a toggle option would be quite awesome! Drinks are on me when I finally make it Oz ;)
